Review: Works better than the automotive version when brushing on. - I think this works better than the normal automotive version of rust bullet when brushed on. I can't speak about spray applications as I've never applied it that way. If you want to extend its shelf life after opening use an inert gas like Argon to displace the oxygen. Take out what you need, carefully wipe the can and lid and flood the can with Argon then replace the lid. Bloxigen was recommended but if you already have it welding Argon is so much cheaper. Here it is March 2026 and the product is still is liquid. I can't state it enough. Open the can, take out what you need, clean the cans sealing surfaces, fill the empty space with Argon and seal the can right away. The way I figure it, this will still be usable for another year.

A: Hi Trevor:
We would strongly recommend your logging on to www.rustbullet.com to view and print the Application Guidelines. I have attached the Air Temps and Application Temps from them, below.
Recommended air or surface temperature should not be below 35°F (2°C) or above 110°F (43°C). Ideal application temperature is between 50°F
(10°C) and 80°F (27°C) with humidity below 90%. Never apply a Rust Bullet coating while raining or under threat of rain. Do not apply to surfaces
when existing temperature of the surface exceeds 190°F (90°C) or is below 32°F (0°C). After fully cured, Rust Bullet coatings have a service
temperature range of 314°F (157°C) continuous, and can tolerate maximum temperature between 617°F - 662°F (325°C – 350°C) for up to 72 hours.
You would of course need to have check the temps of your Mufflers to make sure they work with our temps.

**Q: Can this be used to coat Marine Oil Pans on the inside as well as the outside?**
A: would  not paint on the inside of the oil pan. don't care how clean u think it is. when it starts to flake and clogges up the oil pick up and ruins the engine just coat the outside the oil in the pan will take care of the rust inside the pan.

**Q: What's the difference between this product and rust bullet's 'automotive' version rba49?**
A: Rust Bullet Automotive is formulated a bit thinner than the Rust Bullet Standard Formula to easily flow through an HVLP auto finishing spray system. Rust Bullet Automotive has more metal and will produce a smoother finish typically desired for automotive projects. Both Rust Bullet and Rust Bullet Automotive are industrial strength rust inhibitive coatings. They have the same patented anti-corrosive properties.

Actual paint was great, good color match, easy application. Clean up instructions were not legible, and lid did not go back on correctly/didn’t completely close.
