Safest Non-Slip Baby Bath Mat for Tub - Perfect for Bathroom and Kids

This bath mat is adorable, for my tub it sticks well and the one time we've used it he didn't slip. However, even after thorough washing it still smells like a skunk. I get plastics have a smell but this literally smells like a skunk. When I first opened it I laid it on the dryer while I cleaned my tub. My bra was on the dryer too because I take it off as soon as I get home (don't judge me). I had to wash my bra twice before the smell was gone from it.

I have never written a product review before but I was so surprised at the extremely strong odor emanating from this mat that I felt I should say something, especially since you are supposed to bathe babies on this! I noticed the odor after unpacking the item from the box and putting the mat into the tub so that it would be ready for bathtime later that evening. When I came back into the bathroom with my 7 month old daughter, the odor was so strong it made my nose sting, but I thought that once the mat got wet it would go away. I bathed the baby and hung the mat to dry on the towel bar inside the tub. The odor continued to bother me even in her room, which is next door to the bathroom. I then took the mat outside and put it on one our deck chairs to air out overnight/all day in the sun. Attempted bath #2 this evening and this time the odor is making my eyes water in addition to burning the inside of my nostrils. This can't be good for me or my baby, so I'm returning it. After some quick research, going to try this mat instead, which many reviews indicate has no strong odor, and is designed that way. We got this as a gift for the little girl I nanny, and it's lived in her bathroom at home ever since! Toddlers who've learned to stand and walk WANT to stand and walk as much as they can, so it sometimes feels as if you're constantly getting them to sit back down in the tub. This helps considerably in the worry department, since you know they'll have firm footing when they try to pop up for the tenth time. Also, the shapes are adorable and the clear section is still clean and clear after a year of use! Highly recommend

The mat gasses horribly. I put it through the washer and it still had a toxic stench. I could not leave this in the bathroom for my baby. The mat is colorful but not very thick. I could see cracks that indicate the plastic is not stable after manufacturing. I had to take it outside immediately after the wash wasn't successful in reducing the smell. A lot of these reviews are glowing so I wonder how they did not notice the smell? Are they paid reviews?

This is a pretty cool bath mat as far as my 9 month old was concerned. She loved to rubber fingers on the characters. But I ended up returning it after one use for a few reasons1. The strong odor doesn't go away after being used. Very heavy plastic odor.2. The tub seemed more non-skid than the mat did.3. The suction cups didn't stay suctioned. It did stay in place but a lot of the "cups" kept disconnecting.

I ordered this because of such great reviews and the other one has gotten moldy. Straight out of the box there is an extremely strong plasticky smell that lasted even after I washed in the washing machine and sprayed it down with tub cleaner. I was going to put up with that but that mat is extremely slick. Even my three-year-old told me it's not working it's very slippery. This point it's safer to not have the mat in the tub and I'm going to return it.

We got this mat for my one year old who is now too big for his baby bath and he loves sitting on it! It makes a comfy seat in our cast iron tub and prevents him fromnslipping. It's easy to put down and pick up too so you don't have to shower with it. I'd give it 5 stars except it gives off a strong plastic smell that lingered even after washing it. It went away after about a week.

I bought this for my daughter when I was transitioning her from her baby tub to the bath tub. She loves the animals and colors and during each bath, she pauses in her play to point to the different animals on the mat so that I can name them for her. It's bright and colorful and definitely suctions well to the tub floor. It did have a strong smell when I took it out of the box (reason for 4 stars instead of 5) but it dissipated quickly and hasn't been a problem since.
