I have mad respect and love for Miss Beth and have learned much from her. My Bible study small group wanted to do a little something while the main group we are a part of was on a break, so we all read this book and met to discuss. None of us loved the book, even tho we are all big fans of Beth's Bible studies.First a minor point: the formatting is not great for readability. The text isn't black - it's GREEN! Which means it's harder to read. We're all over 50 and did not appreciate that challenge to our eyes. And the chapters aren't numbered in the body of the book, which is just weird.The main issue we had with the book is that most of the chapters have long sections where we were all asking "what was the point of that multi page anecdote?!" For example, the discussion of Southernisms or the crazy birthday funeral someone staged for her. If you are used to "reading" a Beth Moore Bible study you know Beth is effusive and flowy in her writing, but this book just seemed to go on and on and on in spots. At one point one of our ladies said "it seems like her publisher forced her to write a book, and she just needed to fill pages with something."To me it did seem like there was an excellent idea in there but Beth didn't have enough time to tighten up the text and really work the concept out. Beth's studies are very deep and intense. Every sentence has purpose - there's no "fluff". This book rambled in spots and was padded with a lot of "fluff" that didn't really move the teaching forward. Now that I think about it, there is such a vast difference in the writing between a Beth Moore study and this book that I'm wondering if a new editor worked on this book and didn't do their job well.Nine of us read it, and while we had some good discussions and this book does bring up a few excellent points to think about and apply, none of us liked the book on the whole. As I said, we are all "fans" of Beth Moore and have done many, many of her studies and will continue to do so. However, if this was the first thing of hers that I ever read, I don't know that I would be eager to read/study with her again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A book for all. *by C***T on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2015* What better could be said of you, than that you help spark in someone else a longing to know and love Jesus? You read Beth Moore's work or watch her life and you can't help but find your self pining to know and love this most beautiful Jesus as she does. He is her treasure and you want him to be yours, too! I listened to this book on audio and I will tell you the moment that touched me most was when she describes, hardly holding back the tears, how God changed her "I need to" (i.e. I should) to a "want to" and how, all these years later, it wasn't need that sustained her, but the want of desire. She wanted Jesus, to love him, to know him, to serve him, and NOT to miss him. This is my biggest takeaway from the book- to long for, pray for, and desire that Jesus would be the love of my life, and as I've said to myself for years but lacked the unction to follow through, that no longer do I want to serve from a place of should, but rather that my devotion would be driven by love- and Lord willing, someday that my voice would crack with emotion at the mention of the name of Jesus and my love for him. I know in my mind he is so worth it- I want to love him with all my heart. To come out of hiding and into the light. To help. To serve. To do whatever task, big or small, not for the fear or approval of man, but for Jesus. Just Jesus. He indeed is the prize. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beth Moore is the real deal *by B***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2016* There are those who have said that Beth Moore is a false prophet. To read this book is to KNOW different. It is SATURATED and dripping with her passion for Jesus. Would that we all had that passion to the extent she does--this country would not be in the wretched state that it's in, because even the Christian minority would be making a huge difference for the good. Beth Moore is a flaming fire for the glory of God. I would never want to have to face Him having spoken the way some do against her.
