I purchased the Kryptonite KryptoFlex Bike Lock Cable and have been pleased with its overall performance. The 12mm braided steel cable feels sturdy and durable, providing an extra layer of security when locking my bike, especially for short stops or in lower-risk areas. One of the biggest advantages is the flexibility. The cable is easy to thread through wheels, frames, and bike racks, making it more versatile than some rigid locks. The different length options are also helpful—shorter cables work well for compact setups, while the longer versions make it easier to secure multiple bikes or accessories. The vinyl coating helps protect the bike frame from scratches, which is a nice touch. Despite its heavy-duty construction, the cable remains lightweight enough to carry in a backpack or bike bag without adding much bulk. Terrible. Followed instructions to set combination number exactly (even looked up a video online to make sure I understood). Set the combo, tried to open it, wouldn't open (yes, I'm sure I was entering the correct combo; I use those four digits for a lot of stuff). Went online where it said you could try any one of three "factory reset" codes. Tried all three, wouldn't open. I was out on a ride already before setting it, so I had installed the small brace on my bike that holds it. The design of the brace is terrible. It holds the lock in a way that creates friction on the cord causing the rubber coating to shred off all the way down to the steel cable. Additionally, the brace itself has a tiny plastic piece that holds the mechanism in place that you have to pull out every time you want to use the lock. It is IMPOSSIBLE to pull it out. Add to that, I missed the 30 day return window because I didn't take it out of the box and try all this stuff until I needed it. (That's on me, but I mean, it's a bike lock...how much could you possibly need to know to use it?). There is an 800 number I located for product support, so I may be able to get help getting it open, but this won't resolve the additional issues. Ridiculous.

Having two approaches to opening this cable lock, one with key and the other with combination, is the best of both worlds for me. As I age, sometimes the code or combination eludes me and it makes sense to have a plan B in case. Overall construction is solid, the lock mechanism smooth and most important...it works! Four stars are the score only because the stiff coil of the cable really can fight you when two hands aren't enough to keep everything in place while you lock up. Tough balance in design since the cable is so beefy for a secure result.

I bought one of these locks for my wife’s bike and a few weeks later bought one for my bike. It has a mount that I connected around our seat posts. The lock slides into the mount and locks into it for storage. Removal is easy. The lock itself works well. The cable has a nice thickness to it but not so thick it is hard to manipulate. I like that it is a combination lock and not a key lock. I don’t need to worry about carrying a key on me when riding.

EDIT: After 9 days I received a reply and notification that they would send me a new lock. I am updating my review from 1 star to 4 to reflect the fact that they do (although slowly) support their products. I bought this lock and spent a little more than the others on Amazon because it was from a (quality?) brand that I was familiar with and came with a lifetime warranty. After some light use the lock no longer functions. It was stored inside and never has even been exposed to rain. Contacted Kryptonite customer service and got no response. Sent a new message after 7 days and still nothing. Extremely disappointed in my purchase and customer experience.

This is a great bike lock because it offers the protection of Kryptonite without having to remember the key. I had kin problem setting the code. It sits secure on the bike. It is long enough to securely lock it up to different sizes of bike racks.

Have used this lock about 10x now. The slider gets jammed. Today it got jammed and when I was finally able unjam, turns out the combo reset and I was unable to get bike unlocked from bike rack. Luckily I was able to find some small bolt cutters and had the cable cut in about 10 seconds. Would not recommend this lock.

This is a nice, relatively small and light lock to carry around daily for short stops on my utility daily rider bike. I like being able to set my own combination and not have to worry about forgetting to pocket the key. I found it easy to use once you get used to the mechanism and it is long enough to lock a bike to miscellaneous objects anywhere you may stop.
