Great for fans but not likely to win any coverts
As a longtime Tubes fan I loved this DVD (haven't listed to the CD yet). That said, I think it is very unlikely that this video will win any new fans. There are so many superb concert videos out there (Earth Wind and Fire w/ Chicago at The Greek, Jeff Beck @ Ronnie's, Return to Forever at Montreaux, David Gilmour at the Albert Hall, etc) that the production quality just doesn't compare.I was especially annoyed that there is so little footage of Rick Anderson, one of my favorite bassists. His presence can only be heard, he is hardly ever seen, let alone featured. The concert started off kind of slow and uneven and took a while to find its groove, but then again, so do some Tubes shows. I always enjoy them every time I see them, but between fighting format issues with the aspect ratio and being generally displeased with the image quality it took a while for me to settle into the performance but by the end of the show I was a happy camper.Don't get me wrong, the Tubes are one of the best rock and roll bands ever who never fail to impress and entertain whenever I see them play, but this disc is not the best I have seen them and, by and large, it is not their fault...the videographer/producer did not render a very good product, IMHO.I still don't regret purchasing it but I still don't have anything really outrageous to show my friends to convince them they have to come to a show.

Blast from the past
When it started, I thought, "Oh Noooo", but it is a great show and not as 'Western-ised' as I worried that it might be. Yes, they're getting past it (a little) but that in reality, that actually adds to their charm and the show is actually a stonker.... But not a patch of the 70's shows at the Hammersmith Odeon. There was nothing like them at the time. Great music and so entertaining. To many artists take themselves much to seriously. The Tubes take the music seriously but really enjoy the laugh at life...Will be going to see them later this year. Definitely.

Still a great combination of music and humour
This package offers both a CD and a DVD of a 2004 show from the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London and most enjoyable it is too. The Tubes were always a combination of some great songs and playing combined with their larger than life theatrical visual antics and this continues in that vein. Billed as a 'Wild West Show' it of course isn't but they do mostly dress the part as they work through a pretty good "best of" set ('She's a beauty', 'TV is king', 'White punks...' etc) with a selection of western tunes ('Ghost riders...','Tumbling tumbleweeds' etc) thrown in. There are also some other curve balls such as 'Russell chaps intro' and a truly remarkable version the Beatles' 'I saw her standing there'. In a Tubes frame of mind - open for some fun and don't take it at all seriously - this represents a great value aural and visual piece of entertainment which is what they've always been all about. It's probably unlikely to convert you if you're not already a Tubes fan.
