A commercial grade machine worth investing in.
As a coffee noob and cautious buyer, I did tons of research on what coffee machine to buy. Decided on the Silva and Rocky Grinder. Both work great and as advertised. The only dislike I have is that the grinder design should make it more easy to switch from a doser to doserless version. I got the doser version which has a less controlled area where the coffee grinds come out making a frequent mess.

Great products, fundamental flaws?
I own both of these products. I love them both for their simplicity and quality. It makes beautiful espressos and I get the best crema at the 10 grind setting using roasted on order beans. It also makes lovely macchiattos, matcha lattes, cocoa and americanos. The heating element on top of the Silvia is also a nice feature. Each product has design concerns that I will point out.The Silvia espresso shots get too hot and pull too fast when brewed after milk frothing. You must pull the shot first then wait to froth to heat up. I believe this is a result of the single boiler design. The grinder is not offer airtight storage for the beans. For this reason the beans do not stay fresh and get acidic tasting very quickly. For this reason, I use airtight vacuum sealed ball jar for storage. The price has inflated 40%, I paid $750 for the Silvia 5y ago, and around $400 for the Rocky.Overall, for the price, these are worth it. You will be happy unless the above concerns will be an issue.

Great machine, delivered a used one
I’ve used this grinder and machine in the past and loved them. Solid as can be, uncomplicated. Unfortunately, the seller sent a grinder that was clearly used. It’s got coffee grounds all over it. I was expecting – and paid for – a brand new machine. Supremely disappointing. The machine itself also has a small but noticeable scratch on the top of it. If buying second hand, it would be no big deal. But, because it’s worth over $1000 as a pair, it’s disappointing.Great machines, but perhaps look elsewhere to acquire them.

Great machine! Does not arrive used- arrives tested!
Read the instructions included. There are coffee grounds on it when it’s packaged and delivered because they test every single machine! What service! I am smitten with this. It pulls crema on Decaf shots (?!) This is unheard of for a home use machine. Everything was easy to set up. Be conscientious; you need to purchase some accessories and will need to research and buy cleaning products (and an espresso machine needs to be regularly cleaned). This is a good investment for serious espresso drinkers who want an “at home”option. If I was looking for a new job and the office had one of these, it would be enough of a perk to make me seriously consider an offer. (And I like my job. My job needs one of these)

Grinder works great. Comes with everything you need to make tasty espresso drinks. Make sure to read the operations info if you have never used an espresso machine.
