Review: Buy It! - Remote Shutter worked right out of the box and solved a problem of using my Galaxy S3 and my wife’s Galaxy S7 cellphone camera for unusual situations. The Remote Shutter works with the embedded Galaxy “Camera” App and also with a downloaded “Open Camera” App. My hope initially was to mount my cellphone on a tripod bracket for increased stability as opposed to the usual difficulty of composing and focusing when two-hand held and operated. My wife and I host Monarch Butterflies in our Milkweed garden each season and take lots of photos of the Monarch and Queen caterpillars, chrysalises, and butterflies through the summer season as needed for our own pleasure and for lectures that we present now and then. Composing hand-held shots while shooting down amongst a heavy growth of garden Milkweed makes hand-held shots a chancy business that is more easily accomplished by using a tripod.. Just as I received the Remote-shutter device I was faced with a difficult camera shot of a Monarch caterpillar that had attached itself beneath the rim of a large garden pot in order to transform into a chrysalis. In order to photograph that caterpillar and chrysalis would required hand holding the cellphone-camera lens up under the pot rim with the cellphone display almost touching the ground and so composing the shot and firing the shutter in a usual way was practically impossible. Of course the Remote Shutter enabled the shot with ease and pleasure. That caterpillar soon pupated into a chrysalis and will, within a week, emerge as a Monarch butterfly. With Remote Shutter I expect to have a complete set of crystal-clear images of these events taking place beneath the rim of a garden pot. I can see that using the cellphone camera for around-the-corner and poked into tiny spaces a definite possibility. Also it is a marvelous way to capture Selfie/Groupie shots with the cellphone mounted on a pocket-tripod.
