A perfect drive for an Ultrabook
This drive is really nice. I have the same drive by Pawtec and after upgrading to Windows 10 I no longer could view movies. It would completely lock up Windows Explorer. So I looked at what type of drive it was and it said it was a Matshita bd-mlt uj265 Pawtec UltraSlim External USB 3.0 Slot-Loading BDXL 3D Blu-Ray Writer / Burner For PC or Mac - Black . I set out on the net to find a newer driver/firmware for the drive and couldn't find one. I came across a forum where they talk about that drive and how it's not compatible with Windows 10.So I found this one and did a little research and found out that it's actually a Sony Optiarc drive and couldn't really find any issues about it on the net. Price was reasonable and it's super slim and has a slot loading drive which I like. I'm doing a burn-in as I type this, not really a burn but it's continuously reading the drive while DVDFab is also running. So far it's been reading the Blu-ray all night while converting to HEVC codec and all is well. I really like this drive.

Good design, good price
Was a bit skeptical at first due to the middling reviews, but took a chance. Glad I did, it looks great and reads Blu Ray discs just fine. Like others have noted, the cable is permanently attached to the drive and is a bit short. There is no eject button - have to tell computer to eject the disc. Noise level while playing Blu Ray movies is low. Just so people are aware, if you run a Windows 10 laptop, you have to first download special software before you can play Blu Ray movies. Blu Ray discs are encrypted and VLC doesn't have the ability to natively decrypt. My main concern is there's no emergency eject mechanism, in case something goes wrong and the disc won't come out. Time will tell if it holds up.

Only 2 issues
This cheap and external BD player is extremely useful and handy versus getting a BD drive for my desktop. I only need a BD drive for my small collection of BD movies, and I have a DVD drive for everything else, so this USB player fits my needs perfectly. I only have 2 problems with it:1. The length of the cable is really short, and can make finding a place to put this thing difficult.2. I can't find a switch to eject disks when the device is powered off. A lot of devices have some kind of spring-powered switch. If this thing ever fails you'll have to tear it apart to get your disk out.Otherwise, great device.

Good for a budget, but could be better!
This drive works solely for the purpose I bought it for, which is for Vudu to go, but it didn't come with any software to play movies or drivers or anything else. Luckily I did have Nero already which is why I gave it a 3 star instead of 2. It has no lights to let you know it's even working, no eject button on the drive so you have to open the devices everytime you want to eject. Loading doesn't pull the disc in until it's 98% percent inserted then it takes a hold of it. It is good for the purpose needed, but not at this price, for a little more you can get a named brand with software! Good if your on a budget!

No manual eject, short cord
This drive worked perfectly with CD, DVD, and BluRay up to now (used maybe 30-40 times in pasta 14 months).Minor issue: The cord is too short (~1 ft), so I always needed a USB extension cable, else the drive would be hanging down my leg. Much better if it has a USB connector rather than a permanent cord.MAJOR issue: While burning a DVD, it failed and I got a message saying the drive was not connected. I've connected it to two PCs, it sounds like its trying to read the DVD repeatedly, and sometimes it doesn't even show up in Windows Explorer. Even when it shows up, I can't open the menu that lets me software-eject the disk. Is the problem the disk or the drive? I don't know - the problem is that there is no way to get the disk out of the drive to find out short of taking it apart (and there are no screws, so I'm probably going to break some plastic tab or whatever). This drives major shortfall is that there's no manual eject button!

Not all USB 3 ports are created equally
Initially thought I had a problem with this device, but it appears the problem was actually on my side. Apparently not all USB 3 ports are created equally.I purchased this item because it was described as being Mac OS X compatible. When I plugged the drive into my system, the disc spun up, but never mounted. I tried another system, and got the same response. I tried it on my Windows 10 system and it worked flawlessly. Great, the one system I don't need it to work, and it performs without issue. In frustration, I scheduled a return. As I was boxing it up, I decided to give it one more try, this time on a port on the mother board, rather than the expansion port I had been using. It came right up, mounted the disc and played like it was supposed to. So, I cancelled my return. So, for those of you having issues with it mounting under OS X, try a different USB 3.0 port.

Pretty good drive for an iMac
Works well as a Bluray player. It seems slower than the DVD player I was replacing (mounting the media and accessing tracks) and the cable is really short (I'm using it on an iMac, and the cable is long enough to go from the USB port to the base. That's it.) If you use a Tower or a computer with the USB ports in the middle of the unit, expect to have this drive dangle from an awkward location.
