UPDATE 6/6/2013Final update on this wonderful Kavaj Berlin iPad Mini case. It has survived in and out of my backpack and from bing thrown around by me and my 6 year old son since the first day I received it. The leather held up really well and the stitching remains intact. I uploaded some pictures after 6 monts of daily "Abuse". Aside from visible light scratches on the leather, the case remained beautiful and continues to receive lots of compliments. My wife has taken over the iPad Mini and I'm moving on to either a Galaxy S4 or a Note II, hoping there will be a case of similar qualities for either one. Better yet, if only Kavaj would produce cases for the Samsung products as well.UPDATE: 1/24/2013Everywhere I go, I get more compliments on my sexy Kavaj Berlin case than my iPad mini itself. To be honest, I think I'm in LOVE more with my Berlin case than my iPad mini. LOL. The case has taken a lot of abuse from heavy usage and still looks brand new. It gets thrown in my pack and shoved in my winter coat pocket and still not a sign of wear and tear. Simply amazing. Also my 6 year old son dropped it a couple of times and didn't even scratch the leather. Oh yeah, the iPad was also fine.UPDATE: 12/3/2012I updated my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I decided to keep the case. After only a few days, the leather stretched out nicely giving it still a nice and tight fit over my iPad mini but now allowing the front flap to reach over the other side of the case. The magnets are now making good contact keeping the front flap from flapping around while carrying the iPad. I can now enable the iPad cover lock/unlock feature again. Like I said before, this is the most gorgeous case I've ever owned for any of my iDevices. The leather is thick unlike the bonded leather used on other genuine leather cases. The stitching on this case was also done professionally and looks like it will last a long time. The case itself doesn't really add that much bulk to the iPad and weighs next to nothing. Thanks to Kavaj for producing a really nice super high quality case for the iPad mini. My search is over.*** Original ReviewThis is the most gorgeous case I've ever owned for any of our iGadgets. The leather is top notch and flawless. The feel is supple yet strong. The smell is intoxicatingly good as far as leather is concerned. I truly, truly love the case. I fell in love with it the moment I opened the package. BUT...the fit is too tight just like what the other reviewers have mentioned. I'm sure the leather will stretch out over time. However, this leads to one major concern for me. Because of the tightness, the flap doesn't quite reach the case's edge; therefore, the flap's magnets do not align with the main case's magnets and the iPads magnets as well. The auto cover lock/unlock is rendered inoperable. In order for me to use the case, I had to turn off that feature. The second problem is, because the magnets do not make contact with each other, the flap remains loose and, well, just kind of flaps around. Making the iPad stand with the case is not a big issue for me as it's easy enough to position the case even though it's still a little stiff from newness. This case was supposed to replace my Yoobao Excutive case for iPad Mini, which in contrast, feels a little loose. I will give it a few days to see if my Berlin case stretches a bit so that the magnets can work properly before deciding whether or not I return it. Hope it works because the case is simply beautiful.

I can't begin to express how disappointed I wasWith this case. It's pretty--no denying that. Lovely leather, except for the scuffs and wear marks that shouted, "Not new!" The KAVAJ bag had obviously been opened before, and among the papers inside that bag I found an Amazon packing list from another buyer who took delivery just a couple of weeks before. It would appear that the product was never even checked when returned, a serious error on the part of Amazon, who fulfilled the order for KAVAJ.Before sending it back I tried it on the brand new iPad Mini 3 I received for Fathers Day. A VERY snug fit, so tight that the cover didn't want to lay flat. Being high-quality leather, it likely would have stretched after some use, but three other shortcomings of the design confirmed my decision to look for a different option:1) The cover does have a magnet that works to sleep/wake the iPad. However, that magnet will not hold the cover closed. With the cover fully closed, hold the iPad face down and the cover flops open. Fail.2) Poor quality stitching made me think "cheap pleather," in spite of the nice hide used. Stitching will fail quickly. Not what I expect in a premium product.3) I didn't like the way the leather bands around the screen overlapped the screen. A matter of personal preference I suppose. Not only did they cover the edge of the screen, they did not lay flat.I really wanted this case to work, but even without the Amazon fail it doesn't measure up. Premium leather does not automatically equal premium product.

Let me begin by saying, "holy smokes, this is an impressive iPad case!" I was an 'early adopter' in terms of getting an iPad and have purchased almost every generation thereafter, each time buying a new case. For my mini I had purchased three cases prior to this--all by name brands and with great reviews.One fateful morning, while my mini was nestled safely in it's case--a rubberized shell--I carelessly dropped the tablet causing a chip to come off the top corner. It was a truly minuscule chip but a chip none the less. Suddenly, I saw the case in a new light, I saw it's shortcomings and flaws, I saw now how the error had occurred. The case that I once thought looked sleek and cool now looked childish--unprofessional, to say the least.I took to the internet and found this gem. I read some of it's specs and some of the reviews and made the purchase swiftly. Quickly (thanks prime!) the item came and I was beside myself with excitement as I opened the package. Immediately, I thought I had been sent the wrong color but upon further inspection I realized that the case was tightly wrapped in a black tissue paper. "Wow, what service," I thought. When I carefully tore the tissue paper away I was greeted by the sweet, sweet smell of leather. I inspected the case and it really is beautifully crafted. The holes are cut very precisely and the stitching around the edges is impeccable. Excitedly, I slipped my mini into the case and was impressed by the tight fit.Side note: I noticed some of the reviews of people saying the case isn't cut correctly or the iPad didn't fit in perfectly. I would guess that these people are used to a cheaper, more 'plastic-y' leather. Leather ages over time and stretches to it's final resting place. Of course the case is very tight but it's brand new, clearly it will stretch and fit even better over time. The tight fit now shows me that it will be great over the years.I am very impressed with this case. It is a quality made, professional looking case.

Housse reçue il y a à peine une heure, aussitôt installée, voici donc mes toutes premières impressions, que je résumerai en un mot : parfait ! Ou presque, en se gardant d'oublier qu'il s'agit d'un produit "artisanal", donc en étant très pointilleux on peut toujours trouver quelques petits défauts : effectivement, le dos n'est pas parfaitement lisse (du moins avec un iPad mini ancienne génération, peut-être avec le modèle Rétina qui est un peu plus épais le cuir est-il plus tendu), regardé à la loupe le cuir peut présenter quelques petites irrégularités, tout cela est normal et en tout cas largement dans les limites acceptables sur l'exemplaire que j'ai reçu -- c'est aussi bien expliqué sur le site (voir les différentes vidéos) et dans la petite notice d'accompagnement (en allemand et en anglais, par contre...). Mais le soin apporté à la fabrication est visible, la housse est parfaitement ajustée, l'emballage est soigné, l'ensemble respire la qualité. Une fois l'iPad installé dans la housse, l'ensemble reste étonnamment fin, et la prise en main très agréable. L'iPad est complètement protégé et le rabat assure la mise en/sortie de veille automatique, ce qui n'était pas le cas de mes deux housses précédente et s'avère bien pratique à l'utilisation. Ensemble très correct donc, et tout à fait conforme à mes attentes. Mais c'est surtout le rapport qualité/prix qui justifie les 5 étoiles, en considérant que la housse Kavaj est moitié moins chère que son "équivalente" Apple (Smart Case) --qui n'est pas en cuir et d'une qualité que j'ai trouvée très décevante pour l'avoir eue sur un iPad -- et même moins chère que la simple Smart Cover ! Aucun regret pour cet achat, donc, que je conseillerais sans réserve...

Lange habe ich mich nach einer Hülle für mein Ipad Mini umgesehen. Das Smart Case von Apple gefiel mir gut, doch 69€ fand ich doch etwas zu viel. Doch alle anderen Hüllen, die ich fand, haben mich nicht angesprochen, so dass ich bereit war, das Geld fürs Smart Case auf den Tisch zu legen. Doch dann bin ich durch einen Arbeitskollegen, der ein Ipad4 hat, auf die Kavaj-Hülle aufmerksam geworden.Die Hülle gefällt mir echt gut. Sie hat alles, was man braucht: Sleep/Awake-Funktion, Schutz fürs iPad, zwei Standfunktionen und sie sieht einfach echt toll aus. Ein paar Worte zu den immer wieder geäußerten Kritikpunkten:1. Die steilere Standfunktion ist nutzbar, man muss das Leder vorher dehnen. Man sollte sich aber vorher überlegen, ob das einen nerven wird. Mich stört es nicht. Ich knicke die Walz vorher kurz und das Ipad steht bombensicher, besser als beim SmartCase.2. Viele schreiben, dass die Case nicht richtig schließt. Dies stimmt durchaus. Wenn man dir Standfunktion genutzt hat, muss man die Hülle etwas druckvoller schließen und den Deckel ggf. etwas nach vorne ziehen. Der Magnet könnte wirklich etwas stärker sein, aber es geht auch so. Mich stört das ehrlich gesagt nicht. Außerdem soll das besser werden, wenn sich das Leder gedehnt hat. Ich werde das beobachten und ggf. einen Nachtrag verfassen.3. Der "Gestank": Diese Hülle stinkt nicht, sie riecht nach Leder, was für mich ein klares Qualitätsmerkmal ist. Kann diese Kritik (im Gegensatz zu Punkt 2. und 3.) überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen (siehe dazu noch den Nachtrag vom 03.01. 2013).Nun noch die Vorteile, die mich letzten Endes (abgesehen vom Preis) dazu bewogen, diese Hülle zu behalten und nicht das SmartCase zu kaufen (das ich durchaus auch sehr gut finde):- die flachere Standfunktion gefällt mir bei der Kavaj-Hülle besser. Beim SmartCase ist mir diese zu flach. Ich lese zb gerne beim Frühstück auf dem Pad Nachrichten und dafür ist die Höhe bei der Kavaj-Hülle wesentlich geeigneter.- Die Optik sagt mir mehr zu. Die Hülle sieht echt super edel aus.Beim SmartCase gibt es dagegen nicht das Problem mit dem etwas zu schwachen Magneten. Ein weiterer kleiner Nachteil der Kavaj-Hülle ist, dass man im Querformat nicht mehr die Bedienelemente von oben und unten in den Bildschirem ziehen kann, da das Leder der Hülle im Weg ist.Insgesamt ist mir die Hülle tortz der kleinen Nachteile 5 Sterne wert. Die ersten beiden negativen Punkte stören mich persönlich nicht, Punkt 3 nicht nachvollziehbar. Von mir gibt es eine absolute Kaufempfehlung für diese echt sehr schicke und edle Hülle.Nachtrag 03.01. 2013:Da das case immer nur auf einer Seite richtig schließt und eine Naht sich gelöst hat, habe ich den Kundenservice von kavaj kontaktiert und mein Problem geschildert. Ich bekam am gleichen Tag noch eine Antwort und das Angebot für ein Austauschprodukt (Man bestellt die Tasche bei Amazon neu mit einem Gutscheincode, so dass sie 1 Cent kostet, Die defekte Tasche behält man). Nun weiß ich auch, von welchem Gestank manche hier berichten. Mein erstes roch schön nach Leder, das neue stinkt. Ich hoffe, dass gibt sich noch, denn im Gegensatz zur ersten Case funktioniert der Magnet nun perfekt, der Deckel hält bombensicher. Wenn der Gestank sich verflüchtigt, bleibt's ganz klar bei 5 Sternen. Dazu gibts dann nochmals einen Nachtrag.Noch ein Tipp an alle, die nicht 100 Prozent zufrieden mit ihrem Gerät sind oder bei denen es einen Mangel wie zb Gestank, nicht funktionierende Schließfunktion oder ähnliches gibt: wendet euch an den Kundenservice von Kavaj, bevor ihr eine niederschmetternde Rezension verfasst. Dort wird einem schnell, freundlich und unproblematisch geholfen. Kavaj bietet ein kostenloses Rückgaberecht von 100 Tagen bzw. bei Defekt einen Umtausch.Nachtrag 05.01. 2013:Der unangenehme Geruch hat sich verflüchtigt. Die Tasche riecht nun angenehm nach Leder. Da bei beiden Cases nicht alles 100% super war, müsste ich einen Stern abziehen. Es gibt jedoch einen Stern für den außergewöhnlich guten Kundenservice, so dass es bei 5 Sternen bleibt.

C'est la troisième fois que je commande cet article et je suis toujours aussi contente de la qualité du cuir, de sa souplesse et de la fonctionnalité de l'étui. Il a surtout beaucoup de classe et fait toute la différence sur les autres housses de même type.
