Not Food for Old Men: Baja California: A Mexican Culinary Adventure Paperback – October 1, 2015

I gave this book five stars because I'm impressed by the choice of recipes. Many require ingredients I could not possibly find in my area of the country - and few people live so close to suppliers of various Mexican cheeses and herbs.The photographs are beautiful and the book itself is beautiful. That makes up for some huge flaws. The recipes are just wrong in some cases (I can read Spanish and speak it passably well). You are instructed, for instance, to boil something and yet there is no mention of water. If you read the Spanish, it is there. So, here's the lesson - learn Spanish to be able to make some of this food!For the life of me, I cannot find mention of the authors in this book. I think I must have to dig for that information. It is not anywhere you would expect to find it - I wouldn't be surprised if it was just not there.Strange book. Interesting recipes, though. Worth the price for that.

I like the photographs, the story and the recipes. Would recommend.

So glad I bought this book. It is rich with beautiful pictures, interesting stories/facts and awesome recipes from across Baja ! Every recipe is written in Spanish and English which is cool and I appreciate that the list of ingredients for each recipe is small. I am excited to start cooking !

Cover and illustrations are very nice. Bought this as a Christmas present for a friend. The recipes looked fairly simple. Hopefully he enjoys this.

Great book with recipes not found elsewhere. Delightful presentation with art and historical details. Very efficient shipping and packing. Book in almost new condition!

Halfway between a great Cookbook and an amazing On The Road film. Both mouth-watering and adventurous. Makes you want to rent a bike and rush to the Baja, or at least to the grocery store closer to you! Stunning photos and great recipes, written both in Spanish and English. Love it!

Had purchased this while in Mexico ... found it on Amazon. What a nice book! Strongly recommend it if you want to remember what a nice trip Baja California can be ... or if you're looking for great, easy recipes.

Un libro perfecto para los amantes de la cocina tex-mex con muchas recetas, y unas fotos espectaculares.

Es un libro engañoso, su reseña explica brevemente sobre lugares de aventura a conocer y cocina sobre la región en especifico. Sin embargo es un simple cookbook sobre cocina mexicana general, muy básico con recetas de como hacer pico de gallo y chiles torados, pasando por sopa azteca y tamales........ sin fundamento ni historia, sin recomendaciones locales y aspectos importantes de Baja California, aunque eso si tiene increíbles fotos y paisajes del lugar.

I'm enjoying this cookbook and the regional information that is also within it. Whilst there are a couple of conversion errors for oven temperature in it in the English translations, you don't need to understand Spanish to see the original temperature in the other column. Ive tried a few recipes so far and they're delicious.
