WARNING! This book discusses the 'old' rules of canasta, and is of no help for those looking to understand the "new" canasta that has developed the last few years. While 'old' canasta is a good game, the "new" version is what's being taught to most people learning canasta these days, and the differences between the versions are significant (e.g. the # of cards dealt, the amount it takes for a meld, the value of red & black 3's, etc.). Don't buy this particular book if you're hoping to learn "new" canasta, or don't even know that there is a "new" version of the game that's helped re-popularize canasta.

This book didn't live up to expectations. I was expecting to find more simpler breakdowns of the rules/ point counts etc. I had a basic understanding of the game: there were many basic items that weren't even mentioned. If you had no understanding of the game, it would not have taught you how to play.

It appears that this book was not written by a native English speaker or even a foreigner who is fluent in English. It also appears that there was no editor to remediate the situation. Some sentences are completely unintelligible. The material in the paragraphs and sections is only loosely connected. The book is a total waste of money.

This book is an English translation of a Spanish book with the rules of Canasta as it is played in Latin America. The book does not teach how to play Canasta in the US as it doesn’t discuss American Canasta rules at all. Nor does it discuss any strategies to play Canasta for beginning US players.

Didn’t particularly did not like this book. I was hoping for more of a pictorial intro and guide into Canasta!

I recently learned Canasta and purchased this book to clarify some rules. This book didn't help at all. It was an absolute waste for me. The author's first language is clearly not English. It is very difficult to understand what is trying to be communicated.

Unfortunately...why have rules if no one is going to abide by them. Nothing wrong with the product....but apparently my family doesn't like rules.

This Canasta instruction. book was a gift. And now a gift I cannot use. The book is printed backwards. That’s right, the title page, the table of contents, page 1 etc all begin at the back of the book. The book was not expensive but at the very least I expect it to be printed in order left to right. Pleasesend me a book that is printed correctly.RegardsMary Doyle

Has Mr Ander ever played Canasta? This book is dreadful and the information inside seems to have been garnered using chinese whispers. Honestly I could teach you more about Canasta than this book using nothing other than the medium of Modern Latin Dance!

Obviously a translation and not a very good one. Makes it difficult to follow at times. No diagrammatic elements only words.
