The packaging was especially heartwarming. It survived the usual shipping hazards with no damage whatsoever. I recommend reading the instructions for your particular device as to how to change a light tube before attempting it. It is not at all intuitive. It is entirely possible to destroy the quartz tube in the process by simply dropping the light tube into the quartz tube and letting it free fall to punch out the bottom of the tube. At that point you would have to replace the quartz tube, and the light to would probably break in the process as well. Plus, how do you get the shard out? A five minute job has become a two-hour job. You see then, that considerable study and caution is required before you start unscrewing things. From the top of the clear blue crystal cap, one tube does appear to be brighter than the other. I haven't sorted that out. I would have returned these Chinese made lights but I figured I would give them a try. If I find they are crap, I will make sure to let everyone know. UPDATE: August 3, 2012 - So far so good. They seem to be performing as well as the brand name ones. They have been running for about a month now. Will know at the end of the season when I remove them to see how they stood up. July 11, 2013 - Yes I am still using the same lights. They are doing a great job.
