Mistresses, Volume 1 has all twelve episodes from the first two BBC series. Between episodes 6 and 7, there’s a leap of a year, which helps the series maintain its dense quotient of tumultuous events per show. A big part of the appeal of Mistresses is that these women are all in their late 30s/early 40s but being older than your typical TV heroine doesn’t stop them from dabbling in open marriages, interracial affairs, threesomes, revenge sex, and much, much more. Lurid? Trashy? Absolutely! But the British accents slather a glaze of class all over everything, making it feel downright virtuous. The guys are little more than good-looking props--this is all about the women, who suffer and burn and wallow, tossed to and fro by desire and fate. This is topnotch prime-time soap opera, packed with significant plot turns in every episode. The box set also includes an engaging interview with the stars, who discuss their characters’ drives and self-delusions with giddy enthusiasm. --Bret Fetzer

Mistresses Volume 1
Mistresses is one of those shows that you can't help but love. It's a little bit soap, a little bit romance, and a little bit comedy. It follows four friends: Katie (Sarah Parish), Trudi (Sharon Small), Jessica (Shelley Conn), and Siobhan (Orla Brady) as they each in their own way, become a mistress -- albeit not always intentionally. Through it all, they remain the best of friends and are there for each other no matter what. What I love most about this DVD is that it includes both the first and second series of show, so you won't have to go out and buy them separately. All in all, I was very pleased with the Misresses Volume 1 DVD.

I think that the British people who produced and distributed the series "Mistresses, Vol.1" are way to sophisticated for the people in the States who has bowed down to the spit drooling mob, that follows "Sex in The City". The "Mistresses,Vol.1" has an engaging plot. The subject of sex and relationships was handled with intelligence.I did not experience dead spots in the series,the pace is very developed. I wish there is a Mistresses, Vol.2 on region 1 DVD. Your girl will love it. She can see your UNDERSTAND-ABLE side!

The Brit's version of sex and the city...sort of LOL
This is a highly entertaining British soap opera of sorts. Reminds me of the Amercian Sex and the City series. Story lines are fresh and decidely British in nature. If you enjoyed Desperate Housewives or Sex in the City I think you too will enjoy these grown up soap operas. I would not allow anyone under 14 years of age to watch as there is some slight nudity and very adult topics. I rate this a 5 star production. I look forward to the new seasons.

Great distraction from every day woes
Loved the series; it transported me to a world that I can only occupy in my dreams and TV! The women are diverse,their problems and issues are current. While the situations are contrived and we all know the outcome, it is a terrific ride that I didn't want to end. I was disappointed that the show didn't continue past the first 3 seasons

I love this series. The characters are smart and funny. The first series plot is intriguing and they make use of the six episodes.

Ridiculous program
Too much gratuitous sex--silly plot--poor acting--unrealistic story line, stupid characters--don't know why I viewed it as much as I did--a waste of my time and intellect

fantastic series,sharon glass at her best. very real like,not phoney. little surprise ending to the first story. the casting was perfect. hope they keep this series going. they cancel so many good ones

J'adore cette série, elle est très actuelle, féminine et on vit les aventures de ces personnages intensément: on rit, on pleure et on s'attache à ces femmes... Attention, rien de comparable avec Desperate Housewives .C'est une fiction soit, mais on trouve facilement des similitudes avec ce que l'on peut vivre ou ce que l'on a vécu en tant que femme.

Mistresses!
I have to admit that this sort of program isn't something something that I would normally watch, for example I didn't see it when it was screened on television and until I saw the reviews on Amazon, I didn't even know it existed, however, after reading the reviews I thought I'd give it a go and I'm glad I did.The series revolves around the complicated lives of four women who just happen to be best friends, a lawyer, a doctor, an events organiser and a single Mum. At the outset none of them are having an affair with anyone so none could be called a mistress however, as the story quickly develops and their lives become embroiled with those around them, things start to develop.What follows is intrigue, crime, passion and a complicated storyline that keeps you gripped and wanting to find out what happens next. It's a great series, so much so that I've already ordered series two and three, excellent drama from the BBC.
