Perfect temporary dye/toner for light hair!
I really wanted a temporary purple hair dye and this one works perfectly! I can go from bright neon purple, to lavender, to toned blond hair. I can have a fun break with neon hair and then go back to work two weeks later, and no one knows I had neon hair. Not only does it fade out of my hair perfectly without leaving any green pigment, it also perfectly tones my hair and takes out any brassiness, leaving me with the perfect white-blond shade I've been looking for. I have shoulder length blond hair and used this 3 times before I ran out. Granted, the first two times I used mainly white conditioner with a little bit of purple to get a nice lavender. The third time I used mainly the dye with a little bit of conditioner and left it on for about an hour. The only suggestion I have is to be careful with the dye itself. I would suggest washing your head out under bathtub faucet before taking a shower. The dye is such vibrant and will stain white surfaces if you aren't careful. If you're looking for a permanent neon dye over darker hair- this isn't for you. However, if you're looking for a temporary fun change with lighter hair- 100% would recommend. Definitely will be buying again. I included two pictures of my hair a couple days after I had dyed it and what color it was originally. (Note- it was significantly brighter than what you see in the pictures) The picture with my blond hair was a couple days after I had dyed it lavender- it faded out perfectly and left my hair white-blond. I didn't take any pictures of it while it was lavender, but it worked great! For the neon dye I used about half the container of dye with maybe 1 tablespoon of white conditioner. For lavender, I used about 1/4th of the dye to about 2/3rds cup of white conditioner for my shoulder-length hair. I would recommend leaving it on for at least an hour. USE GLOVES

Fades fast but fades well
A good vibrant dye that works great and is gentle on processed hair. Fades very well to a lovely lilac gradient in bleached-white hair. Otherwise it needs to be redyed every 2 weeks (every week if your wash your hair daily). Be aware if your natural hair color was 5+ that you may need to add a sky blue dye to the mix or the color will come out a few shades warmer than intended.

ultra violet for life!!
absolute favorite color to dye my hair. i always get a ton of compliments. super easy to use, but definitely wear gloves, coat your hairline with vaseline, and cover your counter— the color will stain everything it touches (comes off w acetone best). sometimes my roots don’t take much of the color, in which case i have to dye it twice, but the second coloring always come out perfect. my hair is about mid back length and medium thick. if i’m cautious, i can get the whole head with one jar, but gotta be paying attention to how much you’re using. works quite well with ion pre color treatment spray. Color doesn’t tend to stick around long. i’m usually blonde again after a month or so.

Forget Virgin Snow toner! Use Ultra Violet and conditioner instead :>
This review will give info on how to convert Ultra Violet into toner for platinum hair. For that part skip to the using as a toner section. If you don't care about that and just want to know about how the dye performs on its own, here is a general review: It's definitely a 10/10 for effectiveness, but there are some things you should know before using it. 1: It stains. Oh lord does it stain. It stains your hair, it stains your skin, it stains your tub, it stains your soul. Definitely wear gloves and do NOT let it sit on any surfaces or skin. If you wipe it off of your sink/tub/tile, skin etc immediately you can likely catch it before it leaves a stain. If it does stain, bleach (even hair bleach) works well on white porcelain/tile surface, so don't panic. 2. Semi-permanent can be misleading. If you're using this color undiluted on bleached hair expect it to stick around for a while. On virgin hair it should fade more quickly, depending on hair porosity, but in either event, be prepared for unexpected color duration. 3. Get more than you think you'll need. 1 tub might be enough if your hair is bobbed or shorter, but with shoulder length hair, I didn't have quite enough product. Get 1 tub per 6-8" of hair length, and round up the quantity. ------ USING AS A TONER: I originally purchased a tub of virgin snow toner and it wasn't enough for my shoulder length hair, and at the time my hair wasn't bleached quite enough for the violet-based toner to make much of a dent in the brassiness. Oops, that's my bad. Since then, I realized I couldn't really justify getting 2 more tubs per month to tone and touch up roots after bleaching. When you tone blonde hair to be platinum or "white", it is technically a very pale grey. Basic color theory states that opposite colors on the color wheel will mix to create grey. Or "cancel each other out" So when toning blonde hair, that's what you're actually trying to do. Blue cancels out orange, and violet cancels out yellow. Most purple shampoos and even permanent toners like wella t18 use a blend of violet with a tiny hint of blue to cancel out brassiness, since blonde hair, even level 10, isn't completely uniform in tone to begin with, especially with regrowth, banding, and ombre/balayage being common. So with that in mind, to tone blonde hair to platinum you can simply mix a lot of $2-$5 conditioner with a tiny bit of true violet** hair color and you'll have an easy, effective and most importantly CHEAP* toner. You can also mix it into your favorite shampoo to create a purple shampoo, though this uses more product. Just be careful not to mix too much color into your conditioner, or else you'll end up with lavender hair! I find that if I use white conditioner and mix it to resemble Pantone color 7445c, it tones my lvl 10 bleach blonde to a nice neutral platinum :) If my hair happens to have a bit of orange in there I'll add a drop of shocking blue manic panic to help cancel that out as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ **True violet means a very cool toned purple; a warmer toned purple like a plum or burgundy shades will leave your hair pinkish instead of neutral/grey in theory. Manic Panic's Ultra Violet is a cool toned purple. *Since the average platinum blonde has to fully tone their hair once a month (and ideally touch up roots that frequently as well), this becomes a huge savings over time, with one tub of ultra violet lasting for months. For me, as someone with shoulder length hair, that is the difference between spending $3-6 a month and spending $18-28 (manic panic varies between $9 and $14 per tub depending on when you buy) on toner.

washes out in 2 washes
Over all it is a good color and easy to put on, but when they say it washes out they where not kidding. In 2 or 3 washes the color was fading so bad, and yes I use special shampoo for colored hair. So if you are looking for something that is going to wash out fast then you want to get this one.

Love this!
I have been using manic panic for many, many years now. I love all of their hair colors. They are a bit messy and will stain everything if you're not super careful when applying. I wash my hair about once a week, so this color stays in my hair for quite a while. It does not damage my hair at all. Very satisfied with this. Also, the color is super vibrant depending on your hair color.

Worked great at first
I wanted to continue using this color so badly, but it didn't last. After the first wash the color faded. It continued to fade with each wash faster than any other brand that I have used. I even purchased their amplified version, because it was supposed to be longer lasting and that was a no-go. I really like the color and it was exactly the color that I wanted, but they need to work on a longer lasting formula.

Will definitely be using this stuff again
I've got naturally medium to dark brown hair, I've been dying it black and blue-black since I was about twelve, I'm now almost nineteen. So when I decided I needed a new dye job my hair was a faded blackish brown tone, with my natural roots showing. I was a bit hesitant because I've always used permanent dye, usually L'Oreal so this was my first time using Manic Panic. My cousin uses Manic Panic,Infa Red or Vampire Red usually; she and I have almost the exact same natural hair color and her hair looks amazing when she uses either shade. And I've been warned to try out a burgundy permanent dye for awhile but I've been scared to say the least so I was shocking to black. But I wanted a change and my black was pretty well faded so I thought what the heel I'll try Infa Red, it's not permanent so why not, maybe it'll help me decide if I wanna use permanent burgundy or not. I do not. I will stick to Infa Red. I did not bleach my hair nor will I probably ever. I love what this color did to my hair. The top where my roots were showing is a beautiful red color and it gets darker add it goes down, the bottom of my hair is pretty much black. It looks beautiful because it's not a flat dull black, it's got a red zone in the light. Definitely recommend Infa Red, even on unbleached dark brown or black hair.

Honestly, quite impressed
I had very low expectations for this dye, apart from completing younger-me's dream of being like the emo cool kids with their Manic Panic dye. My hair has some sort of magical resistance to holding dye (I've had home-grade permanent dye wash out in a week, amongst many, many other attempts at coloring my hair) so I bought this on the basis that it was cheap enough I wouldn't be upset if it was a flop. I have quite short hair, and bought a jar of Manic Panic Purple Haze to mix it with, and I estimate I'll get 8-10 dye jobs total out of the two jars. The color of both of the dyes mixed is very pretty. I put it over dark blonde hair (somewhere between a 5 and 7 depending on what chart you use) and got a nice, strong purple. It's darker than I expected, but that's on me. As for longevity- this dye did a great job. I have grown out bleached highlights in my hair, so at the ends there was some bleached areas, but the rest of my hair is untouched. The first time I put this dye in, it lasted about three weeks, with the bleached bits still retaining some color- although definitely faded. I should note that I do use a quite color-unfriendly shampoo, which also didn't help it. The picture is after I dyed it again tonight, which came out even better than the first (the unbleached parts of my hair didn't take to the dye the first time, and turned a sort of grey). The most recent time, I put the dye in before I washed my hair, left it in for about 1h30min, put a lot on, and blow dried it with a makeshift dye cap, which I think greatly improved my results. I think on any normal hair, this dye could easily last a month, maybe longer. Whenever I use up the jars I have now- which I feel may take a while- I'll definitely be trying another Manic Panic colour!

I never give one stars but hear me out…
I never give one stars but hear me out… I’ve used manic panic for years never spoke a bad word of them till now. My local suppliers didn’t have ultra violet so in purchased it here. My blue and pink I bought locally worked perfectly, the oriole on the other hand isn’t even a slight bit on my hair. It was bleached to pure blonde and nothing. Even from the consistency it doesn’t look right. I feel I’ve been sent an expired product. I am so disappointed and won’t be buying dye from Amazon again. If I was you who ever is reading this just but the hair dye in person as manic panic is a brilliant brand.
