So far so good...
I don't know who came up with the idea of using the petroleum jelly or Vaseline but they need a parade in their honor. All four hoses slid on instantly. Tomorrow I will put them to the test to see if they fall off when I put the Kun on my violin. I'm guess it will all be good.My only one complaint... I received four hoses, one for each prong. Three were the same size and one was almost too short. It will still work but it was a close call.

Great product; difficult to install
The tubing on the feet of my old Kun shoulder rest was torn and coming off, and these little pieces were exactly what I needed. The only reason I'm not giving the product 5 Stars is because they were really difficult to put on. I didn't find the talcum powder made much difference -- we had to use a pair of pliers and a lot of tugging to get them on. However, once installed, they work great and my shoulder rest is like new again.

Work but extremely difficult to put on
Got these because my old tubing had holes and my shoulder rest was taking varnish off the sides of my violin. For the aggravation of getting these on I wish I'd just bought a new rest entirely. Cut off my old tubes and got these ¼ of the way on with powder. Made a huge powdery mess doing it inside my trash can to control the mess. Had to enlist my dad to help me muscle these on. Our fingers were raw after finally several days later getting all four on! White powder still leaks out of them now onto my clothes. That's how much we had to use. But they do work and no holes in them yet after about a year of daily use. 3*s only for the aggravation of installation.

Shoulder rest feet good as new
Did not try using baby powder, but using vegetable oil as other reviewers suggested worked great. I just dipped the feet of the shoulder rest in a bit of oil before pulling on the tubing. Trimmed the ends off once I got them on as they were a smidge long but that was no problem. Shoulder rest is good as new now; definitely glad I didn't spend $25 on a whole new one!

Soften the tubing with hot water!
In reading customer reviews, some find it difficult to slide the tubing on. I didn't use either talc or lubricant. I heated up a cup of water in the microwave (not boiling) and submerged the tubing in the water for a couple of minutes. This allowed the tubing to become flexible and I was than able to slide the tubing on without too much effort.

They work.
Seems kind of pricy for such a meager amount of rubber tubing, but it sure is convenient. Not sure why some people struggle to get them on except that they probably don't know how to follow directions or know nothing about lubrication.

These worked perfect on my Kun rest that I’ve had for 20 years. I followed a reviewers advice and used a q-tip to lubricate the inside of each tube with Vaseline. Still took effort to get the tubes on the feet, but it worked well.

Tricky to get on, definitely use baby powder and some finesse. But strong and stable and they do the job.
