Exactly what I needed! (if I could get it to go on a dog collar).
Just received my second Warner Traditional Sportsman Brass Dog Collar Bell, and I think I'm going to need to return it.Here's why:I ordered the first one and was very pleased, except that it's designed to slip over a collar and my dog has a Martingale collar that's a continuous loop. So, duh, I should have realized that, so I cut the leather strap off the bell, but then found that the slot in the top of the bell is too narrow to permit anything other than a wire or the flimsiest of keyrings to fit through it. So, I rigged something like that up and carabinered it to the ring on the Martingal collar, which worked fine until my hound pulled it off somewhere in impenetrable brush. But, I liked the bell itself so much that I ordered a new non-Martingale 1" collar from Lupine and another of the same bell, thinking that, as described, "Loop will slip on a 1" wide collar." Well, it *would*, but only if the 1" collar has no buckle on it. It is just ridiculously close to sliding over the nylon buckle but *will not* be made to slide over either end.I'd really like to make this work, and I'm thinking maybe 1) see if I can stretch the leather loop, maybe by soaking and/or greasing it, and/or 2) removing the top rivet/grommet and then replacing it once it's on the collar. We'll see, but all this could have been avoided if manufacturer had sprung for an extra 1/2" of leather strap!UPDATE: Success! I was able to strike off the top rivet/grommet with hammer & screwdriver and slide it over nylon buckle. One rivet/grommet should be enough unless he gets really tangled, and I'd prefer it break loose then anyway.

Not for hunting dogs onlyโฆ
These bells sound clear & pleasant! Iโm using them as toys for my strong & playful parrots. I tried one bell at first. My most destructive guy canโt pull out the clapper! The leather strap is very strong. I got 3 more & a nice surprise, the bell straps came in black, rust-red & tan. They donโt discolor & have a golden shine. They arrived early, too!

Great bell until the tiny weld broke
This bell has a great little tinkling sound that is more melodic than the usual cow bell. I have two dogs so I need two different sounding bells.I really love this bells sound, but there are two tiny welds that hold the two pieces together and then there is a lead ball inside that rings the bell. When my dog is running thru the brush the bell gets snagged on brush and pulls. The dog keeps going and the two little welds break. Then the ball bets pulled up in the bell and it stops ringing.I am currently glueing it back down until I can get a replacement bell.

Nice loud musical ring
It's nice and loud, and very musical sounding. Unfortunately way too big and clunky for me to want to use on my dog's collar. If you have a dog that is off leash and you want to track him by sound instead of sight, or if you're trying to warn other animals of your dog's presence this would be a great choice, but my dog is almost always on leash and within 30 feet of me. I found a smaller brass bell to put on his collar and now this one hangs on the door.

Perfect!
I have two of these bells. They are the best I've found, both for my hunting dog, in the field, and also for a new puppy, just to keep track of her on our farm. Thanks for a stellar product.

GOOD BELL
This is a nice bell with a medium tone and range that is pleasant to hear. It is very well made and the strap works with a 1 inch dog collar. I also have a cow bell that has a louder and lower tone that I can hear farther away. I like to have different bells for my 2 dogs so that I know who's who.

Not as loud as I thought it would be.
This is wonderful quality but not too loud. I have a nickel plated dog bell for my other dog so I can tell who is who. I can hear that one at 100 yards and lose this one at about 50. Its not so loud that you can't have a conversation if the dog is near you.

The tone and loudness make it easy to hear
The tone and loudness make it easy to hear. Slips onto my dogs hunt collar and over the ring no problem. Seems like a well made quality product. Should last for years.
