Color:2404UDE - Urban Dark Earth The 2400 Series Gun-Kote is a true one-part bake on protective coating. The one part system means no hardeners or catalysts that have to be mixed into the coating. Whatever is not used is simply poured back into the original can. Its much easier to work with and there is no pot-life that needs to be considered. There is no waste. The 2400 Series provides excellent abrasion, chemical and impact resistance. The coating is guaranteed not to Chip Flake, Peel or Rust Creep. Most important the coating displays excellent coating layer to coating layer adhesion or a need to be concerned about how long the coating has been sitting before you have to use it. There is no window for re-coating or repair work. The 2400 Series has an average particle size less than 10 Microns. Given the relative size of the particle means you can lay several colors down and have the final finish feel like one smooth color.

Easy to Use
Just like any paint project, prepping is key. Degreaser, latex gloves & lint free cloth's is really all you need. Rough up the surface (220 grit for knife blades in my case) for good adhesion. I used one of those cheap universal spray cans where you add your own paint - would have preferred an nice even coat but it produced a spatter-pattern that I liked anyways. I'll use a airbrush next time to achieve that even coat I'm looking for and add a few more coats. Let the paint air dry then cook/cure at 325 for 60 min. Finished product it tough and durable but I have no illusions it'll get scratched up with use, any Cerakote, Durakote, etc. ceramic finish will eventually. Again, poor results are almost always because of poor prepping.
