It’s shape is something that takes some getting used to. It supports your head and neck very well, but you have to adjust to it a bit. When I first got the pillow, it took over a week to get used to it while sleeping I’d grown up sleeping with two pillows as I’ve always had bad asthma and needed to be slightly more inclined. However, now that I’m in my mid-30s, the degree of incline on my neck with two pillows was more painful than the comfort of sleeping my usual way. I’ve tried many single pillows over the years and none of them worked well enough. So I took a chance on this much more expensive pillow as I read about it being the best pillow for side sleepers with neck and shoulder pain. I took out some of the stuffing at first since it had a much higher loft than I was used to. Over the first month+ I added it all back in as the stuffing became more compacted and I appreciated the amount of loft and realized it was indeed keeping my neck better aligned and thus in less pain. Now I wake up without neck pain at all. Every couple weeks I fluff the pillow up again by grabbing at the surface to dig into the stuffing and pull it up. Works for me. The pillow is longer than a standard pillow, but the same width. So the end will stick out a bit from a standard pillowcase, but I use one anyway since I don’t want to use it without one. The pillowcase will crunch up around the indent, but I got used to that too. A king sized pillowcase is much too big and will be too annoying if you’re a lighter sleeper like me. I’ve tried previous pillows that were firmer to support my head and neck, but they were so firm that they ended up hurting my ears (as I’m a side sleeper) and I would wake up in the middle of the night with my ears in pain. This pillow is firm enough to support, but I rarely wake up with ear pain. It’s not non-existent, but it’s much less common. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
