Westinghouse 7233600 Comet LED Ceiling Fan with Light, 52-Inch, White

Replaced some old hunter fans. These look fantastic and offer great lighting for a bedroom. I wouldn't use in a large den or anything. They are whisper quiet and move quite a bit of air. I'm very pleased with these. No wobble, no noise, and pretty easy installation. The only thing to be careful of is that the fins are made of some sort of very soft wood and easily dented or damaged, so assemble with care. Once mounted that is not a problem. I like the dust free dome.

After reading about these fans on Wirecutter, I bought two (one black, one white) and can confirm that they are indeed quite perfect. They move air effectively, are so quiet you forget they’re on, and are both handsome and yet so clean-looking as to melt into the background in a good way. Even the light gives a nice glow. I can’t speak to ease of installation as I hired an electrician to install them. Not do I have a review of a remote, because my models didn’t come with remotes (a regrettably missed opportunity). But I delight in how much I am saving with these fans, especially as compared to an energy-sucking AC and given California’s climate-impacted, wildfire-strained energy grid. Get them!

It seems some of the reviews here are of a different or older model. The newest model that I received is a great fan. Older reviews show candelabra style LED bulbs. This unit has a fixed LED array (see pic). The LED array is dimmable with the right controller. When the fan arrived, it was missing hardware. The seller was quick to contact the manufacturer and resolved it. The fan is incredibly easy to install as long as you have the in ceiling hardware needed. I went with the flush install. There is even a hook on the mounting point to hang the fan while completing your wiring. I’m using a hunter remote control, and there is some hum on high and medium, but completely quiet on low. It is a beautiful fan, and made the room feel much bigger than our old low hanging model.

Really pleased with this fan. I paid a handyman to install it who likened it to a game of operation in terms of the precision and care needed, and called it less than user friendly. I had put together the blades, which was a 30-minute process in itself. But he got it up and it’s blissfully quiet and very pretty in my space. I love the soft tone of the light. Would definitely buy this fan again. (And pay someone else to install it.) The last fan I had installed was a Harbor Breeze that was noisy and I never quite trusted was secure. This is silent with little to no wobble on mid to low speeds and makes little noise on high speed. Didn’t install a remote as I’d seen mixed reviews, and the handyman confirmed that they are unreliable and short lived, and half of the ceiling fan work he does is replace or remove receivers. So happy with my purchase.

I bought this on recommendation from wirecutter as their top ceiling fan pick, and boy did I regret it. For context, I'm a former electrician in the Navy and have installed quite a few ceiling fans over the years. I'll start with the few positives. The fan housing and reversible blades are solid feeling and attractive, it looks good on the ceiling. That's about it. The assembly was terrible. The stiff lock washers for the blades are too tight, so you better have very strong fingers to jam them onto each screw that attaches each blade to the blade brackets, 3 of these per blade, and 5 blades total, My fingers are still raw from doing all of those. I even tried using pliers to push them on each screw instead, but that would snap the washer in half before it went on, only working around with really hard finger pressure would get them eventually on without breaking. The mounting bracket that attaches to your junction box in the ceiling is very thin sheet metal, I'm sure it'll hold the fan safely, but it seems weird they skimped that much on material on the most important piece, usually they are made with much thicker metal, especially since this fan is also not equipped with a braided steel safety line to screw into your box like I'm used to most ceiling fans having. It's always a good idea to spin the motor of the fan before you put it together and hang it, so if there is any motor noise you don't waste all that time. There was no noise when spun freely, but once hung, the motor made a click click click sound at all speeds. I even took it down and disassembled down to the motor to see if there was a wire or loose screw causing, but it's internal to the motor assembly itself. So back it goes. Don't bother with this one no matter what wirecutter says.

We have these fans in every room. They are powerful and the lights are quite bright. We have them hardwired in so some of them are on a dimmer switch, the others aren’t. They work perfectly in both situations. Relatively easy to install once yo I get the cadence. We have 6 of these fans in the house and they all work great and look sophisticated. Only negative is they aren’t on remote controls, but we felt with kids and so many fans in the house that the remotes may end up getting lost or broken, so having the attractive pull chain was important. We rarely adjust the fans once we pick a setting so they work great for us!

This fan hit all the marks for what I wanted. First the stuff I do like - reversible blades (mine are solid white on one side that match the rest of the fan, driftwood/whitewashed wood on the other - I went with the wood), sturdy build, runs quiet, option to mount flush or on extension tube, option to wire to a switch or use pull chains, extra parts included (unfortunately not the ones you'll likely need), runs pretty true (ie, doesn't wobble or shake), clear instruction manual in multiple languages, etc. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it would be so picky and labor-intensive to install. Installing the ceiling mount and the motor was fine - very typical for fans these days. But the blades are each two pieces, with 5 bolts each, and 2 of the bolts go in while the fan is hanging from the ceiling. So you have to hold a bolt on the tip of your screwdriver while you fish the blade into place and then try to fish the bolt through where the light attaches, through the hole in the blade and then into the motor. It's really annoying - plan on dropping about half the bolts and plan on losing at least a couple of the lock washers (the ONLY thing they don't give you extra of, of course). Also the blades have two pieces that must be bolt together. Wouldn't be a huge issue except there are these fiber washers that go on and they are so tight, you have to screw them on. But of course - it's a washer, made of fiber at that, so there's no way to hold it except with your finger. But you have to get it threaded roughly halfway on before you can stick the other washer on and then thread the nut on. God forbid you get the bracket you're trying to attach upside down and don't realize it until the fiber washers are all on and then you have to unscrew them because they are still too tight to just pull off. ANNOYING. Nobody else attaches blades this way, I swear. Everyone else has grommets or snap in or snap on blades which cuts install time easily in half, and leaves one feeling much more satisfied when done. If they made that one improvement this fan would be hard to beat. As it is, I'd shop for a different fan. Ones can be found, especially named for that Long Island Bay (wink wink) famous for ritzy homes owned by famous people, that are identical in price, offer more features (remote, adjustable color warmth on the light, nicer looking) and are much easier to install.

It's a good fan - nice and quiet. My only complaint is that the lights are very dim. About 2X 60 Watt equivalent, which is about half of what my old fan had. The problem is the bulbs are "candelabra base" instead of standard base, and nobody makes brighter bulbs with that smaller base.
