Well worth the current price!
This is a great product and only $20! It comes with the 9 volt battery and a nice case. It is very accurate. When you get it, you have to let it get to room temperature (about 15 to 20 minutes) before you can get an accurate reading. I was able to test it out on my 10 month old and she was not bothered at all by it. No pulling ears. No swiping across the forehead. No struggle to keep it in the baby's mouth or under their arm. No tears. Just point, pull trigger, and a second later you hear a beep and have your reading.A big plus is that the beep is very soft. It should not wake up even the lightest of sleepers. However, you can turn the beep off if you want to be extra careful. You have to fiddle with the for modes: F1, F2, F3, and F4 to figure them out. They aren't in the book.F1: It is for setting at what temperature you want an alarm to go off. It appears that it can only be adjusted in Celsius. This might be helpful if you are doing several patients per day and need a reminder if a temp is too high. Not important to me.F2: Calibration. You are supposed to take your temperature with a standard thermometer, check it against the product, and adjust this if necessary. It wasn't necessary for any of my family. Some people apparently have thicker skin them others.F3: Turns ON and OFF the beep. (Maybe the alarm too. Not sure.)F4: Switches between BODY and SURFACE readings. It is also possible to turn off the laser pointer as well if you are concerned about that getting your child in the eye or something. One thing to note: there is no ambient temperature setting. I'm not knocking it a star for this because it isn't listed in the product description, but there are other readers that do have that feature. You'll have to decide for yourself if you want that feature enough to look at another product or not.Overall, this is a great product at a fantastic price. The literature could be a little more helpful on the modes, but now you have them. The pouch is a nice added bonus as well. For the current price of $20, it is well worth the money.

Meh.
Temp readings were way off at times, and when you're dealing with parents that NEED to know the exact temp, this just doesn't cut it.We reverted to our CVS digital thermometer, which can take rectal and upper body readings.

I'm a nurse who works in people's homes. This has helped a lot with getting a temperature on patients that would normally not allow for traditional means

Great as a back up.
If your little one is sick, use a regular thermometer. Its pretty accurate but sometimes is off by a degree or two.

Great for a sick preschooler.
It's always hard getting a young child to hold still while you stick a thermometer under their tongue or arm. This Non-Contact IR Thermometer eliminates that. This is such a great device. This non contact thermometer is very easy to use. It's basically point and click. My three year old doesn't mind using it at all. I purchased this thermometer during a promotion at a promotional price for testing and reviewing. All opinions are my own.
