DesignCAD 3D Max 25 CAD Design Software for PC Windows

Cheap CAD software that can be used for designing. I wish this can be upgraded to be able to import AutoCAD files. Or to be able to export files to AutoCAD.

I have not used all the functions available with the product so far, but what I have used works great. Ease of use, great set up and no problems at all. I am a user of a very old version of DesignCad (perhaps the original DOS version) so DesignCAD 3D MAX is a great step up for me.

Like the product I did not like the fact that it look like it was an old disc scratched up when I paid for a brand new software!Tried to use it on my new computer, did not work!

Good 2d software

It appears to be a solid product but lacks and documentation.

I have been using DesignCAD since the DOS version 2.I used it to redesign and rebuild a 36 foot sailboat that I lived aboard and traveled up and down the East Coast several times. I am currently using it for projects in my machine and welding shop and to rebuild my house.The current version 25 has upgrades to create STL and other files used for 3D printing. I have been able to import and change 3D files with Blender. Right now I just create basic but precise shapes and then manipulate them for viewing in Blender. I am still learning but have a long way to go.After all these years, I am finally starting to learn the 3D portion because I now have CNC equipment and will be getting a 3D printer.DesignCAD is outstanding for 2D drafting. An older version is an excellent investment if you are a maker on a budget and you will waste less time than trying to use some of the open source CAD programs that promise but never deliver. DesignCAD also has a non intrusive, user friendly license. You need to read the fine print of the free versions of the professional level CAD programs to appreciate the DesignCAD license.

This CAD program is great for both 2D drafting and 3D modeling. The interface is a little different than other CADs, but once you learn it, you'll find that you can draw faster (and easier) than any other program (that I know of). The only disadvantage is that its 3D models do not export well to high-end CAD programs like Solidworks.
