I have not bought any cookbook for a long time, but I saw the Testing Menu show and was hooked.I tried 2 recipes just copying it down from the show and to my surprise it was a success. The problem I worried about is how to get the ingredient. Worry not, I turned to Amazon and got all the ingredient!The recipes are simple enough, and repeated in other dishes. It was not overwhelming. I have tried many other type of recipes and give up because it never worked out well for all kinds of reason and most often, it was because of the complexity.I still go back from time to time to watch the show when I needed some help.Thank you Nic! After watching the Netflix series "Testing the Menu", my mouth was just watering wanting to be able to taste those dishes myself. I was so happy to see there was a cookbook to go along with the show. This is a gorgeous cookbook with delicious recipes. Many of the recipes are easy enough to make and only require a few ingredients. I have made many and they were indeed delicious. You just need to stock your pantry and you're ready to go. Can't recommend this enough.

We watched Nic Watt's series on Netflix called "Testing the Menu" and we were so impressed we bought his cookbook. It's 237 pages of how to stock your Japanese pantry, a description of Japanese tools, Japanese eating etiquette and, of course, many, many recipes complete with instructions on technique. We're very happy to add this to our library of cookbooks. It's a "must" for foodies.

It is a lovely book. The recipes are enticing but where do I buy the necessary spices to cook the dishes? Tried to find them on line without success. There is no help or suggestion as to how to acquire the spices in the book which I think is a huge lack.
