Working great for 2 years
I bought this almost 2 years ago and use it in an Intel i5 CPU/Windows 7 machine. It appears solidly built and was easy to install (I build machines sometimes so it was easy for me at least). I needed to be able to easily "cold"-swap SSD drives (including the operating system drive), and for this it has worked flawlessly. I always shutdown the machine between swapping drives, and so have never needed to hot-swap drives so cannot comment on how hot-swap works. When I first ordered it I wondered how long the latches would hold up, based on how small the latch buttons looked in the picture. But I actually like how the buttons work and have had no trouble so far. Basically, you push the button towards the right which opens the spring-loaded door and ejects the drive part-way. You then slide in the new drive and close the door until the button clicks to latch the door closed.

Excellent service
My second one. The first lasted 4 years with daily disk exchanges (for backups). Finally the connector wore out. I judge this to be excellent service for the money. It has no effect on disk function, as it is only a set of connectors. No effect one way or the other on disk speed, which are entirely determined by the HDD and the controller Update 5/30/14. My second one is already showing problems, with the connectors wearing out due to daily hot-swapping, less than one year after purchase. So, I'm not sure the quality is still at the previous high level. This is ONLY a problem if you are swapping drives frequently, but it appears the connectors are not as durable. I will look elsewhere next time

Well made, looks great and operates great, BUT..
Well made, looks great and operates great, BUT... This unit cannot be locked, which is an issue if the SSD is holding your OS. So, nice drive tray, but probably not a good idea for a drive holding your OS. BTW - KingWin does make a locking version

It fits right into the small floppy port on the enclosure and is very easy to swap SSDs in and out
works very well with all 4 of my SSD drives in different systems. It fits right into the small floppy port on the enclosure and is very easy to swap SSDs in and out. The only challenge is some SSDs are slightly smaller than others and the drive bay has to account for all sizes, which makes some ssd's less than snug when you insert them.

Door springs break
This is a great mobile rack, except it's now broken. I bought it in July 2016 and it's only December. The top racks just popped out, I don't take it out very often, not even once a month. Not only did it just open up, it won't close. It seems the spring is defective and will no longer hold the door shut which makes it rather useless. Otherwise I'd give it at least 4 stars possibly 5 stars.

Solid product. Faster than advertsised...
As another reviewer mentioned, this thing is definitely clocking in at Sata3, 6gbps speeds. I tested a Corsair Neutron GTX with AS-SSD using this thing and the score was over 1000, which is an incredible score. Oddly, the box my mobile-rack came in only said it supported Sata2 speeds. The website here says it supports sata3 speeds. Frankly I don't even think there is any kind of chipset interface that would matter for speed, seems to be simple pass through. Just know you won't be surprised with any bottlenecks. The doors mechanism feels solid and works well with an SSD. Installation was slightly tricky at first. I was putting this into a 3.5 to 5.25 bay adapter. It was frustrating because I didn't have a magnetic screwdriver thin and long enough to fit where it needed. Then I remembered an old trick where you can magnetize any screwdriver by rubbing a magnet on it, and installation was a breeze. Probably only applies when using a bay adapter but I think that's going to be a common use of this, for desktop users.

Good product, great value
If you think you'd like to have two 500-GB drives slipped into your computer's floppy-disk (1.4-MB) 3.5" slot, then this is the way to do it. It's fairly well-built, very well designed, and very easy to install. All screws are provided; and fit/finish is first-class. You don't need any accessory power leads (as in the LP4 to 2 SATA power splitter), because the unit comes with special SATA power leads with four additional wires to a connector for each drive bay to drive blue (disk present) and red (drive active) LED indicators. The blue's a little bright, but not bad. The red becomes magenta as it mixes with the blue LED which is on all the time a drive is installed in the bay. This is a terrific product. I bought a second unit for another install because it's so good. If you don't need extra internal drive space, don't bother, but if you would like removable storage for off-line backup (esp. home video), definitely consider this economical and practical accessory. At $72 for 320 GB (late 2009), WD Scorpio Black 2.5" drives are cheap and reliable storage. Alternatively, go ahead and purchase, record, and store 71 DVD disks.

Unacceptably cheap materials, shoddy workmanship, and no quality control.
Everything about it was perfect until I later removed it from its bay intending to place it in a different system. Unplugging the bottom LED power connector resulted in not only the plastic receptacle breaking away from the PCB but one of the four pins as well, rendering it incredibly difficult to repair. As if that weren't bad enough, unplugging the top bay's SATA power connector resulted in several small bits of receptacle crumbling away, including most of the the key (meaning that power connectors plugged into it either fall out immediately, or stay barely connected and liable to cause a short later on). As a nice little cherry on top, the return window for this heap of trash has since ended. Do not buy this despite its enticing price tag. It will not last.

Useful and good quality
Quality accessory. Very useful if you want to have several OSs running without partitioning a single drive. I connected the top drive and used the bottom one to store the dormant one. This means no fiddling with the bios to choose a boot drive. I simply turn the power off and remove the plug before changing out the drive (this possibly isn't strictly necessary). Super product. Very versatile for flexibility. Obviously this could be used in more than one scenario. I needed another Win 7 install to run a game that doesn't work with Win 10. I used a spare SSD drive. My system uses a boot drive with the OS etc and then a storage drive that is a conventional HDD. This works well for a multi OS system because all your docs are available regardless of which boot drive you use. I bought the 3.5 inch without having the structure for a 3.5 drive so I used an adaptor from Maplin (which I already had) to bring it up to 5.25. This took a bit of trial and error to fit. Honestly, how long has it been since PCs used floppy drives? So why make things in 3.5 inch? Having said that it was my bad for ordering the 3.5 version. The power LED is blue and activity shown in a contrasting colour. You could possibly leave the 4 pin connector undone if you didn't want that flashing (being quite bright). All cables and screws included. I used the power cable which uses a standard molex plug to convert for the Sata power and has a 4 pin branch for the LED power. I also used one of the sata cables that come with it rather than my existing sata cable. I disconnected it from the motherboard and connected it to the unit, then pushed the unit into the case and then re-connected the cable back to the motherboard. That was just to save stress on the motherboard connector but it also made it easy to connect to the unit; access to which would otherwise to quite awkward. My boot time appears to be slightly faster, so I wonder if the included cable was slightly better quality than the my existing one.

Easy to install and works great
It fits nicely in a floppy drive bay. Works as expected. The only thing I am wary of is the hot-swap feature. There is no off button; normally a proper off button would cause the memory cache to be committed to the drive and then the drive would spin down and turn off. This device just has the eject button which disengages the drive immediately. So if you eject the drive before all the memory cache has been committed to the drive, you run the risk of damaging files. This really needs to be tested so I'm not deducting any stars.

Works great, nice and easy to handle 2.5 SSD's
This works great mounted on the front of PC, I'm able to swap out SSD's pretty much at anytime. You might also need the Star Tech BRACKETFDBK 3.5 Inch Hard Drive to 5.25 Inch Front Bay Bracket Adapter.
