## Questions & Answers

**Q: What's the difference between this unit and the one for sale on Adafruit.com for $55?**
A: Same unit. If you buy it from Adafruit.com and have it shipped via UPS 2nd day (like Prime), it will cost $11-$12 more (sales tax applies to either seller), so it only costs about $11 or $12 more via Prime. Still, it's lunch at most sandwich shops... ;-)

**Q: Is original BeagleBone with JTAG via onboard USB ?**
A: The original Beagle bone included a JTAG header. The Black edition was designed to hit a $45USD price target and the JTAG header was not included in the design. There is no JTAG over USB support on the BeagleBone Black. The BeagleBone Black is different than the BeagleBone. JTAG is an uninstalled option. To install the JTAG header, all you have to do is install P2 on the back of the board. P2 is a Samtec FTR-110-03-G-D-06 connector.

**Q: I ordered this but I received a BeagleBone from Element 14. Is that correct? Element 14 is a Chinese company. BeagleBoard is a US company....**
A: It's made from TI components which are almost exclusively manufactured in China. Element14 (aka, Silicon) is the international distributor for Farnell for which it stocks and distributes over 1/2 a billion products, many of which are US/Jap brands such as TI, Vishay, MicroChip, STM, Panasonic, etc..

**Q: Can this be programmed via matlab under Windows 7?**
A: Yes, you can, Beaglebone can be programmed with Matlab and SimuLink (under win 7). Check out the web for resources about this topic, Texas Instruments has some tutorials. Enjoy.
