Just be careful that you don't tap the thermometer when finishing reading the temperature of a food item.When I did this, the battery door opened, and the battery fell into the sauce that I was temping next, which caused me to have to throw away the product.Now that I know this, I am mindful of it, and I have never had another issue with it.Worth the money, and a good purchase.

I purchased this in July and it said it had a lifetime guarantee. Well, it's not even 6 mos. since I purchased it and it is no longer functioning. When I look at the return option now, it says it is no longer available to return it.UPDATE - I received a new one in today's mail.

I like the exact temperature readout much better than my old probe with a row of lights. It takes about 5 seconds to reach the temperature of what you're testing. With the probe folded in it's very compact. The bottom of the box it arrived in makes for a good storage place, and that's good to keep for the temperature chart that on the bottom of the box. I'm pleased with it's accuracy and I like the hold feature. It's also great for testing liquids.

Works well for quick temperature checks. Will not work well for a sustained temp check.**UPDATE** I purchased this 12/2016, and have used it maybe once a month for the past 1.5 years. It is now no longer functioning. We'll see if I can get a replacement.

Unfortunately, this thermometer does not accurately tell the temperature of meat. I have reset it, switched out the batteries and kept hoping.....but it just isn't accurate. It reads much higher than the actual temperature of the meat. The issue may be with just this unit, but I'm not going to buy another one to find out.

It does a good job measuring temperature when I can get it to turn on, but it's flakey as hell. I have to pop the battery or fiddle with the probe. I'm tossing it and getting something else.

seems to be pretty accurate. Wife accidentally dropped it in a sink full of water and there is some water behind the screen now, we let it dry out and it now just has some white film behind it. don't submerse it in water and you'll be fine. =)

I love the thermometer's functions and overall look. I even like the fact it shuts down and goes off automatically when the sensor is released. I just cannot deal with how hard is to pull the sensor out, at times I really struggle.
