Terrariums have captured the imagination of modern interior decorators and designers worldwide. As you may already know, a terrarium is like an enclosed, indoor garden, usually small and made of glass. Imagine holding a glass forest or beach in your hand. The word terrarium was first used in the late 1800's, and it's similar to the word aquarium with Terra (meaning "land") and arium meaning receptacle. Terrarium literally means; land or garden in a confined space. Remember terrariums are easy to move and to maintain. You can have many such gardens peppered around in your home giving the ultimate face-lift to your abode. Purchase comes with a Table Glass Vase, Organic Soil, River rocks, Charcoal, Sand, spray and how-to-manual.

Nice terrarium, layer how you want!
What’s great about this terrarium kit is that it comes with all the things you need to set up a cute, multi-layered terrarium. While this may not sound like a big deal, I’m not sure how easy it would be to buy the small quantities of each of these layers you’d need. There’s also a nice definition between the different layers - from the small, light colored grains of sand, to the chunky black charcoal, the rich black of the dirt and the round grey and white pebbles - nice color variations and textures to differentiate the layers. Not to mention two nice river pebbles to top it off. There’s not a lot of info on how to set this up - ours did come with a card that had a suggested layering, but also mentioned that you can do it however you want. We are putting one of our air plants in ours, so it doesn’t have roots that need to be buried so we felt free to layer ours the way we wanted. I felt like there was enough (quantity) of each strata - I believe we had extra of everything except the sand (and the larger river rocks). The included spray bottle is a nice inclusion and is perfect for air plants as that’s all these need for the most part (we do take all of our air plants and soak them in a bowl of water for a bit every couple of weeks or so). I thought the small microfiber cloth was a nice touch - it’s nice to have something small enough that you can get down in the glass terrarium to clean up fingerprints and smudges without having to try to keep a larger rag from getting down into the layers and disrupting the flow.Overall, I think this is a nice little terrarium for something like an air plant. I don’t believe I received the e-book mentioned - I looked back through my email to see if I missed it but don’t see it. This isn’t a huge deal for me, but in case that’s something you are counting on, you may want to make sure to follow up with the seller regarding this. I did find an email address on the included card as I went back to take a photo of the “instructions” that you can email for the book, but so far I’ve only gotten an automatic reply (emailed only minutes ago though). I will update my review and my rating if I do receive the e-book.I purchased this terrarium at a discounted price, however my review is based on the product and my experiences with it. I try to include the kind of information I’d like to know before buying a product.

Convienent do it yourself terrarium kit, that misses some marks.
This Terrarium kit has it's pluses and minuses. First on the plus side... It contains everything you need to set up your first terrarium except for plants. It appears all the components are of a high quality. This eliminates the need to purchase in bulk at your local hardware store to set up one terrarium. The terrarium and components were shipped well padded for transport. The inclusion of a spray bottle is a nice touch. On the minus side, mine did not come with any assembly instructions, documentation for care or suggestions for plants to purchase. That kind of documentation would be greatly appreciated. All the components can be purchased at your local hardware store, but see above for a plus. The microfiber cloth is worthless, it's about an inch square piece of material. The box that the terrarium was shipped in was from a big box home hardware store. I'm kinda figuring thats where the individual components were purchased from and individually packaged. The bottom line, is this terrarium kit is a convenient, do it yourself kit without any instructions or guidelines. I'm sure I can figure out what the components are for and in what order to put them in for maximum benefit. General end users would like to know why there is charcoal and such in the kit. Also, where is the ebook? Is it downloadable from a website or sent via email?I did purchase this terrarium kit for a discount in return for my honest and unbiased review.

Fun and easy!
I am looking forward to putting this terrarium together. I haven't had a terrarium in ages and this made me think back about a large terrarium that I had for my classroom. A large glass water bottle was used. The local florist actually use a small tool to plant various plants in it. The students loved it.This glass container is 7" tall. The opening of the jar makes it fairly easy to design and implement the terrarium. I especially like that just the right amount of organic soil and river rocks are provided. There's no guessing game. Once you get the soil and river rocks in place, you can add a plant. I'll be using a succulent plant which I'm waiting for through the mail. I think a succulent plant, cactus or an air plant would work best.Once a terrarium is established, it pretty much will take care of itself. You may need to add water from time to time, depending on the type of plant you use. The kit comes with a spray bottle for the plant(s). As with any plant, you'll need to place the terrarium where it will get enough sunlight. The nice thing about this size terrarium, you can place it most anywhere. I'll be placing mine in my serenity room which has several plants and a large essential oils diffuser. The terrarium would also look nice on a desk, in the bathroom, as a centerpiece for your dining room table, or on a small table. The kit also comes with brief instructions and access to an ebook on terrariums.I received this product at a reduced price in exchange for my honest, nonbiased review. I'm very happy with the terrarium and believe that you will be happy with it as well.

Neat office space
Very cool do yourself terrarium kit. Comes with all the ingredients necessary to do so except for your plant or similar. It does have a card to suggest the layering. The order can be whatever you want however they suggests rocks, charcoal, soil and sand. My package did not include the two river rocks. Overall, the setup is very cute and perfect for an office or small space. The only reason I gave it four stars was due to the price. I believe it is a bit high. Perhaps if the price was lower I would've given it five stars. I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
