Awesome device, unclear specs on description
This is a handy little USB reader that I use all the time. Unfortunately the SDK is only available if you buy it, and it costs as much as the reader. We were hoping to use this to develop some software for reading RFIDs directly into our database. Because the SDK was not readily available we have decided to go the arduino route. This reader is now only used at my desk to read/commission tags one at a time. Good for turning your machine into a reader, not good for customizing or building with.

Experience Problems
Since the moment that we receive the reader RFID ME, we had problems with the software included in the CD, the same one did not function and presented errors, is not plug and play and required us to contact the manufacturer for technical support. Our technical department faced many issues in regards to lack of answers and poor service. The problem was solved after many difficulties and it was until a person of superior level was involved that we received the needed support.

this dongle is as good as useless
Without it's SDK, this dongle is as good as useless. You can't do much with it. The basic version of the SDK is USD 199 and the pro-version is USD 749. The SDK is only available through the MTI website.

Works, inexpensive
Received item very quickly. It has a few utilities that make it reasonably easy to program and read Gen2 tags. I attached to a USB cable extender for more flexibility. It seems to be the least expensive UHF RFID product available.

Poor support, unavailable development tools
This is probably the cutest UHF reader that I have in my bag and probably a good toy. For any serious work, however, you need good support and good development kit for creating new applications for end users. Both of which are very poor. The software development kit is outsourced to another company that actually sells a library. A piece of hardware is DOA that does not encourage the application developers to develop but try to make money off them too. It will still be something that I will continue to use for quick identification of a tag but not develop business applications with it

Great educational solution
As a college professor who teaches both a RFID and an AIDC (bar codes, mag stripe, Biometrics, etc.), this is a great product. It is affordable, allows me to teach current and relevent RFID topics, using the same technology that places like WalMart use. This is also a great product for smaller companies who need to comply with RFID mandates, but can't afford $2,000 for an enterprise level solution, or for larger companies with large deployment requirements. Think desktop stations with limited read range requirements... tag commissioning stations, data verification, rework, etc. A must have for educators in the supply chain, MIS, and operations fields!
