Just like a flashlight, sometimes you have things on your key chain that you need to quickly and easily detach. That might even be your keys! The Kappa QR (Quick Release) delivers convenience and security in an entirely new way. A Unique Mechanism Our innovative design is simple to use and reliable. Simply push to engage, pull or twist to disengage. Up to 10 lbs of pull means the keychain detaches only when you’re ready. Enjoy convenient flexibility and thoughtfully engineered security in our detachable keychain. Better than the Rest Most quick releases use magnets or other mechanisms that run the risk of detaching throughout the day. Whether you’re operating in a harsh environment or just getting in and out of your vehicle, you need to know that the things you carry are secure. Our canted coil spring firmly holds your keys, flashlights, and everything else. You’ll be confident that things are in its place. OPERATING NOTES: Twisting the two halves while connecting/disconnecting the QR will reduce the amount of force required to connect/disconnect. This is the preferred method, though it is not strictly necessary. Pretend like you are screwing (or unscrewing) the two halves. There are no threads, the twisting action simply pre-loads the canted coil spring and makes it easier to compress. Changing your every day carry is smooth and hassle-free with the Kappa Quick Release.

VERY nice keychain
For years I've been looking for a nice quick release keychain to replace the free one that I received from a merchant years ago. This one fit the bill. It is small but substantial with a nice, non-magnetic design. Not sure which version I wanted, I ordered the brass, nickel and Lexan versions to compare. The brass version has a nice brushed look to it. It feels substantial weighing 12 grams, three times more than the nickel version. My ancient freebie keychain weighs 10 grams, slightly less. The nickel version appears to be just a little smaller than the brass and Lexan versions. It looks like polished chrome. It's nice but, at only 4 grams, feels like a toy after picking up the brass version. The Lexan version is only 2 grams! (Lexan, for those that don't know, is a high tech super-plastic used in bullet proof glass and other applications where high strength is a requirement.)I only planned to keep one keychain but I'll end up keeping both the brass version, which I will keep as my primary keychain, and the Lexan version, which I will keep in my hiking pack. In the end, you can't go wrong with any of the choices—that is, if you're willing to spend $25 on a keychain.

Not Just a Keychain
Bought this to replace a freebie quick release keychain that I had been using for over 10 years. It is well machined and comfortable to hold. I was worried that I might not have enough hand strength to separate it since I have arthritis in my thumb, but I can manage it easily enough. One thing of note, my ADHD teenage son thinks it is a great hand fidget! I told him he could have one as well - if he bought it! The rings are well sized to hold several keys. The coiled spring mechanism is an interesting take on the release technology and well engineered. I look forward to using this keychain for many years.

Great product - Wish it was smaller & cheaper
I like the pull apart mechanism of all the Prometheus products.Con #1: They are pretty expensive. Flashlight + Quick Release = ~$100 (I asked Santa for them)Con #2: I wish they were smaller (less bulky).- I don't need it to hold up to 10 lbs (5 lbs would be plenty & hopefully 1/2 the size).- I'd like to have 2x of the Quick Releases, but that would be WAY to bulky. That being said, I've tried a number of quick release options and like the Prometheus solution the best.- Standard quick release - I found annoying when trying to get keys off with the keys in the ignition.- Magnetic quick release + titanium key rings - kept sticking to other metallic items on my key chain (knife/flashlight/toothpick).It's a good option if you're willing to spend the money & don't mind the size. Love it.
Really well-made and cool. Exactly what I was looking for and worth the price in my opinion.

Handy and worth it.
This is a handy little thing that makes removing my light from my keys very easy. It holds very well, but yet not difficult to separate. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. With that said, if I needed another one I'd buy this without a doubt.

Exactly what Iv been looking for
This little thing is awesome! I ordered the titanium one and it’s super well machined and clean, this is exactly what Iv been looking for, I don’t really trust the magnetic ones I see all over the place and this is much better quality over those cheapy ones you see everywhere. They include 4 rings with it too which are very nice also. Don’t hesitate

Well made. Better quality than expected.
This is better than I thought. It's expensive but the metal feels like a high quality and it takes a nice amount of effort to detach. My last detachable keychain, the one with the plunger button, would fall apart from gravity alone. This one has a unique design which is why it was appealing. It has a spring-like coil inside.

Very high quality feel
It feels very sturdy, and as a quick release, I imagine you'd want that. I've been using it daily since I bought it (3 months+?) and it still feels exactly the same as when I bought it. It hasn't degraded in the least and it makes me feel like it's going to last for a good long while.
