Does the job very well. You will need a couple extra items though...
Today I finally tackled the dreaded stripped caliper pin issue on my '99 Dodge Dakota. As has been written, there is a serious issue where Dakotas and Durangos have problems with stripped threads where the caliper pins screw into the steering knuckle - a major safety issue on these vehicles. Just a single front brake job can yield stripped threads for the caliper pins.To do this repair, I had to purchase a 3/8" bit to drill out the worn hole and a wrench for the tap, the second item caught me by surprise as it's pretty obvious that you'll need one!The process went smooth and easy. Drilled out the hole in the steering knuckle, ran the oiled tap through, installed the insert (just needed one - it held) and re-assembled the brakes using the proper lubricant on the new caliper pin and all is well. Snugged right up.If you are one of the many people who have the era of Dodge Dakota/Durango with this problem, this IS the solution to go for unless you absolutely have to replace the steering knuckle. I tried the self tapping oversize pin route first, and it was a dismal flop. The self-cutting threads on the oversize pin just wore right off. Note that when using this kit, you will use standard size pins.

Equal to Helicoil brand
Repaired brake caliper mount that was stripped by the dealer. Scary to think I was driving for a couple years with a stripped out screw on the front brake. Excellent quality at a low price. This manufacturer is known for a different style thread insert but makes this oddball size that is equal to Helicoil brand, pretty much the standard style used in industry. I would buy any size from this manufacturer. Tap was sharp inset tool worked well, SS insert threaded w/o issues which was good since I was under the car in an awkward location. Saved me quite a bit of money over a new knuckle and hours of potential installation time.

Wish i would have bought these online earlier than try and find them at the store. Well worth it repairing my vw jetta caliper bolt and dodge dakota. I have been using helicore sets for years at power plants. They are great. The turbine casings i worked on actually had these installed from factory for better fastening. Reccomend using thread locker on the new threads that the helicore is threaded into and a small amout of anti-seize on a bot that is going to be threaded into it

Great product, but be sure you have a 3/8 drill bit and a handle to use with the included tap.
great value. Includes the coil threads, tap, and insertion tool. You will need to supply your own 3/8 drill bit and some type of handle to work the tap and insertion tool. Most if us already have handles for use with taps so that was no problem, but for someone without an existing tool set you may want to go with the name brand products that come with the handle for the tap....

Fast and Easy Repair Solution
With this kit, I was able to repair the front brake caliper bolt threads on my Dodge Dakota and avoided having to replace the hub assembly. Saved me a bunch of time and money. The instructions included were easy to follow and the results were very professional-looking. Basically, drill out the existing threads, screw in the inserts and you're done! The threads are stronger than new and the bolts lock up very secure now. I definitely recommend this kit.Note: A 3/8" diameter drill bit (not included in this kit) will be required to install these coils.

Worked like a charm on my 2002 Dakota
Worked like a charm on my 2002 Dakota, with it's oddball thread size on the brake caliper slide pins. A common problem and a very uncommon thread size, I couldn't find these locally. Rather than go oversize and risk stripping the steering knuckle again, I decided to repair with these inserts.

This came in and worked like a charm
This was used on a caliper on a dodge grand caravan when my old man ripped the threads out :)Went to 3 auto stores and 2 hardware stores and non of them had this size, they were all scratching their heads. This came in and worked like a charm, still holding strong 2 years later.
