Replogle 22824 Landen 16" Diameter Floor Standing Glove with Stand - Full Swing Meridian for Great Viewing

This transaction did not start out very well, but it ended very nicely!I ordered this globe for my husband for Christmas, and I am glad I did so early b/c the one that showed up was incorrect. I was not very happy and wrote an email to the seller, and they responded immediately and had the new one ordered for me quickly.Unfortunately, on Christmas morning (my husband was working) I opened the box to put it together and it was broken. The screw on one side had come off, so the black halo was cracked through. Again, I contacted the seller, and they said that they would send a new globe. The globe was out of stock, so the next thing I knew I was being refunded for the order. I was confused, but happy that something was being done.Then, to my pleasant surprise, a new globe eventually showed up at my door! To my knowledge, the seller is not re-charging me for this globe so, ultimately, I am very happy with this transaction.GLOBE REVIEW: If you just want to know about the globe itself, it is really beautiful. The stand is sturdy and it compliments our home very well. The height of this stand is good for a person who wants to stand and look at the globe, versus sitting in a chair and looking over, so keep that in mind when ordering a tall globe such as this one.

I am very pleased with this globe. It is pretty heavy and seems very sturdy and stable. It is big enough to see a lot of detail. There is a huge difference over the 12 inch globe it replaced and I am glad I got it. I use it a lot when reading historical novels. Sometimes I sit and stare at it.It was well packed and was almost a struggle to get through all of the packing material.The Landen stand doesn't appear on the Replogle web site anymore although this antique ocean 16 inch globe is available with other stands. Doing a quick web search I do see it on other globe web sites though - so stock is available as of June 2011.

I ordered this globe from Amazon. The globe looks wonderful. However, when putting it together, I found one part was missing from the package. I wrote to Amazon to request that part twice. I never got any answer from them. Finally, I had to pack it and send it back which is very inconvenient. So far, I have not even heard anything from Amazon about my refund. I this the issue from buying things from Amazon. When something goes wrong, nobody responds.

The stand for this globe is very sturdy (and heavy) so if you plan on moving it around often then this probably isn't for you. But I love the look of this globe and stand over the other floor modes. Also there is quite a size difference between the 12 inch and 16inch. It is large, but so much easier to read and see the countries. I think the price was very fair in comparison to other models, but I think this may be a discontinued product because replogle does not have this one listed with their current globes. This also arrived extremely fast. Hubby loves his anniversary gift and just sits and looks at it!

Wrong screws, missing hardware. You'd think for a $350 ball of paper made in America they could get that right. It would be better off to send manufacturing to far east where they seem to get it right more often thanNot. Fortunately I was able to resort to using half of the 4 bottom screws on the top to make it work on my Dads 80thBirthday. Not recommended. Seams on globe were not well aligned either.

From a distance, the globe looks beautiful. My boys as well as myself enjoy looking geographical areas of interest. However, the equator, longitude and latitude lines are not properly aligned. For the high price, I expected more attention to detail.

The plate that is on top of the pedestal that the base of the globe bolts to was not installed.Returning is just a pain so I had to have one made. just an inconvenience.

Good looking. Everything lined up. Easy to assemble! A little expensive - but this is a one time purchase which can be updated as political boundaries change... get it!
