Durable axe...
I'm a newbie at axe throwing, but I got a feel for this pretty quickly...weighing in at 9 oz, it's light but has a decent heft...from13 feet, it sticks every time in 2" SYP (southern yellow pine), hitting on point...NOT seriously sharp, but has NO trouble digging deep. (1/2" to 1", or more). The WIDE point has NOT bent at all, even hitting at an angle, and I haven't had to sharpen it still, after about 150-200 throws. The "Singapore Sling" is a decent entry level axe at a fair price on Amazon (Prime) with free s&h.

bought it for like 20 bucks
bought it for like 20 bucks, completely not worth the price. way to small and light, broke after a few throws. Would never recommend this to anyone.

Worth it? I don't think so.
I purchased the Shiflett Steel Throwing Axe with Sheath a few months ago and I came to the conclusion that this item was not worth the money I paid. Price: For almost $17(not including shipping and handling) I think this item is a bit overpriced. It just feels like an item you could buy at Walmart for $10. Quality: First off the description of the Axe is that it is made of stainless steel, but after the first two weeks it began to rust! The corrosions are only getting worse and it is almost to the point where I do not want to touch it anymore. The axe came sharp but quickly dulled after a few days of being thrown. Comfort: The handle of the axe has 45 degree edge that begins to hurt my hand after throwing it over and over again. The only flaw learned about the sheath is that when the axe is in the sheath there is a point where the axe's point sticks out. I poked my hand a few times when I had it attached to my belt. Appearance: The overall look of the axe is very cool, but not very comfortable to use. Weight/Durability: The axe is light weight so it is hard to throw into hard trees because there is just not enough weight, but it is still very fun to throw at a plywood board. Also the Axe is very solid and can withstand abuse giving from being thrown. The sheath that the axe comes with is very well built and is very durable. Pros: Cool look, Fun to throw and both the sheath and axe are very durable. Cons: Corrodes/rusts easily, dulls quickly, uncomfortable to handle and the sheath has a point where the axe can stick out. Neutral: Light weight (depending on personal preference if you like it to be light weight so you can carry it around easily)

Looks Good
Haven't used yet, but looks good. Seems built well. This is actually for practice and won't be used until next summer.

A real keeper
Went camping with this the other day. Handles well, throws well and is very sharp. Well balanced, fantastic throwing ax. The sheath for it... well, I can say it protects the blade, but it's not very practical. The sheath is really the only con I can come up with. Will be buying another one soon.

Shiflett steel throwing axe
So me and my bro had a hatchet for splitting small pieces of would. We also liked competing on throwing it at a dead tree stump, it was wooden handle and was a challenge to through properly but if it was done correctly it would stick into the sump easily. We decided to take our competing further and get one of these because we thought we would get more consistent results. When it arrived we were excited. We tried it right away on the same stump, it looks really cool and sharp but was to light. bottom line is that it wouldn't stick in the stump , it would just bounce of, we tried about 30 times each and where annoyed so we sharpened it for about half hour till it was real sharp and tried again, but still didn't stick :(. So we gave up. Im sure that it would stick into someones back or a soft target but it is just much to light for are use. Seems like a lot of people had success with others so I don't understand realy why we weren't we are both good with the hatchet so its not us. any way I wouldn't recommend this unless you just want something that looks cool.

Decent little axe
My dad is into throwing axes and knives so I got him this for his collection. It works ok if thrown just right. There's not much to it. It's kind of thin and cheap but we've had some fun with it. It's by no means a high end throwing axe but I didn't expect it to be for the price. The balance is ok and the edge came moderately sharp. It's a bit small. It's held up to hitting the ground a lot and hasn't broke or bent yet so that's a plus! If nothing else at least it looks cool.
