Review: Incredible Factory-Look Finish Without the Overspray Mess! - I had always wanted to try the G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint system and it did not disappoint! I recently purchased a 2020 BMW X3 that has the M sport line package but not the M sport brakes. I love the look of clean painted calipers so I decided to give the G2 system a try. In the past, I have used caliper painting systems that were spray can based. Although these produced nice results, masking the car and components and trying to keep overspray down was a challenge. What I love about the G2 system is that application is done with brushes and you do not need to worry about overspray. Included in the kit is everything you need to get the job done with maybe the exception of a wire brush to remove stubborn brake dust. If your calipers are relatively new or fairly clean, you may not even need a brush. I had the luxury of a vehicle lift at my disposal so that I could do all 4 calipers at a time fairly easily. If you are doing this at home, I would consider a set of jack stands so that you can do the same. I watched a few videos prior to completing the project and it was just as easy as the videos made it out to be. After suspending the vehicle, I removed the wheels and used the included can of brake clean to prepare the calipers. Once they were cleaned thoroughly, I masked off anything that I did not want painted in the general area of the caliper. Next, you mix the two part paint system in the paint can and stir for about two minutes until the activator and paint are combined. Then its time to start carefully brushing on the paint. The included brushes with the kit did a fine job and lasted for the entire project. A pro tip is to apply a small amount of coating on the first two passes and achieve decent coverage. For the third and fourth coat, I applied the paint a little more generously but not too heavily and was able to achieve a high gloss enamel almost factory look. Really quite impressive. For time in between coats, by the time I finished the fourth caliper, I was able to go right back to the first caliper and reapply. Paint was dry to the touch within about two hours after application, but it is recommended to wait as long as you can without driving the vehicle as to avoid excess heat. In my situation, I waited around four hours after the final coat before I put the wheels back on and headed home. Rule of thumb is the longer you can let the paint cure the better and since this is air dry paint, no heat is needed to achieve a great finish. The before and after results are very impressive and I absolutely love the finished look and deep blue color of the calipers. It is exactly how I had wanted it to turn our. So if you are in the market for a caliper paint system that is easy to apply and affordable, I highly recommend the G2 paint system!
Review: Two Days, Two Gloves Per Caliper, and One Purple Midlife Crisis - I used the G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint Kit in epoxy purple on our 2007 Saab, and I’ll say this right up front: this is not a “lazy Saturday, knock it out in an hour” kind of project. This is a “stare into the mechanical soul of your car and confront every trace of grease you’ve ignored for 19 years” kind of project. The color is awesome. Once it’s on, it looks rich, bold, and way more durable than spray paint. It gave the Saab exactly the kind of slightly unhinged, confident glow-up I was hoping for. Purple calipers on an older Saab feel like a declaration that aging gracefully is fine, but aging with attitude is better. Now for the real talk: prep is everything, and this kit will humble you if you underestimate that. Buy extra brake cleaner. Seriously. I used 4 additional cans before even touching the can included in the kit. I also used a toothbrush to scrub things down, and even then I still had to wipe grease out of the pin areas. You think it’s clean until this project teaches you that “clean” and “caliper-paint clean” are two very different life philosophies. Also, have extra gloves ready. Expect to go through at least one pair per caliper, probably more if you’re trying to stay neat. The included brushes, or at least the ones I used, started to fall apart as I went, so don’t get too emotionally attached to them. And keep acetone nearby for quick cleanup, because this stuff does not mess around once it starts setting up. That said, this epoxy is bomb. It goes on thick, levels nicely if you take your time, and feels much more substantial than a spray-can solution. It absolutely takes longer than just buying Power Stop calipers or hitting yours with quick spray paint, but that’s the tradeoff: more labor now, better durability later. Spray paint is a fling. This epoxy feels like commitment. So, would I do it again? Yes. Would I underestimate it again? No. This kit turned into one of those projects where halfway through you question your decisions, by the end you respect the process, and a week later you find yourself looking at your car in parking lots like a proud parent. Bottom line: Buy extra brake cleaner. Buy a toothbrush. Buy extra gloves. Keep acetone handy. Expect the brushes to suffer. Expect yourself to suffer a little too. But when it’s done, it looks fantastic and lasts.

I had always wanted to try the G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint system and it did not disappoint! I recently purchased a 2020 BMW X3 that has the M sport line package but not the M sport brakes. I love the look of clean painted calipers so I decided to give the G2 system a try. In the past, I have used caliper painting systems that were spray can based. Although these produced nice results, masking the car and components and trying to keep overspray down was a challenge. What I love about the G2 system is that application is done with brushes and you do not need to worry about overspray. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From Rusty to M-Sport in an Afternoon

Fantastic product with flawless results! The G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint System was easy to use and completely transformed the brakes on my 2017 BMW X3. A couple of fine wire brushes took care of about 10 years of rust and buildup, and the included brake cleaner handled the rest of the prep. One tip: have all four wheels off and everything prepped before mixing the paint. Once mixed, the clock is ticking. There was more than enough paint for all four calipers, and I was even able to put a third coat on the fronts. By around the two-hour mark, though, the paint was getting pretty thick and sticky when I finished the rears. The finish came out smooth, glossy, and looks professionally done. The blue completely changed the appearance of the old X3 and gives it an awesome M-inspired look. For the price and a little DIY work, the results are hard to beat. Absolutely a 5-star product. I'll definitely be using G2 again when it's time to do the TRD red calipers on our Sequoia!
