The hinge base measured 1 3/4 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches long. The holes were all 3/4 inch apart. The hook part was 3/4 inch wide by 1 inch long, by 1 inch tall. The holes were 1/2 inch apart. The loop measured 4 1/2 inches long. All of the holes accepted 1/4 inch screws. I used 1/4-20 screws. **Q: Is this 2 pieces or 1** A: It’s 3 complete latches. Each latch is in 2 pieces, the lock mechanism and the catch. **Q: can this be used on a steam boiler?** A: I would think the boiler is heavy cast and these are not that heavy. Truthfully I used them on a side door of a 26’ box truck to help the factory latch and it worked perfectly. **Q: Will they rust outdoor? I want to use them as a wood gate lock.** A: They appear to be either zinc coated or have something that retards rust. That said, they are more what I would consider an occasional use latch, not something that is operated frequently. They have nuts to adjust the latching distance/securing as in making the closing not rattle when it is latched. These nuts do move, but aren't hard to re-adjust. Overall I would stay away from outside gate use if it is operated regularly. They have held up great now for over a year.I originally wanted destaco brand since I had used them in the past and I know they are high quality.I am happy to report that these are a great alternative at a much cheaper price. They aren't as robust as the destaco counterpart, but they fit the need and function just as expected.Id buy these again for the same application. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great latches for my harbor freight folding trailer. *by on Reviewed in the United States August 30, 2020* I picked these up to use to keep my harbor freight haul master folding trailer for use when folded up in storage position. I was using a small 2x4 with bolts and wings nuts through the stake posts (see pic) while effective, it was slow to undo and go. I wanted something faster. This fit the bill. I wish I they were an inch or two longer, but they worked perfectly. I oybised 2 of the 3. So I have 1 spare in the event of failure. So far, its a great improvement. I highly recommend them at this point in time.I cannot speak on their weather resistance and rust proofing at this point.
