Buddha For Beginners Paperback – May 19, 2015

While the illustrations are fun and the book is short, I don't think this should be considered a beginner book. There's a lot of new vocabulary, especially for someone with a very limited understanding of the eastern religions. I'm finding it very difficult to read more than a few pages at once because it's so much information conveyed so quickly.

I read this text initially in college and absolutely changed my life. Best beginners manual ever :-)

Not sure the title fits this book. It’s more a history of Buddhism. I found most of the art distracting although some were profound. like a term paper. For me, there are better books to read for a beginner. I’d like to read more on practice and how to start your journey. If you want to understand the history, evolution and comparisons to religions, this may be the book for you. Read more

This is a very well-written, concise account of the development and details of Buddhism. Read this far before any other guide. There are just a few points in the explanations and argument for the significance and meaning of Buddhism where a few more details would have improved things. Loved the graphic novel antipyretic of it.

I'd have liked a bit more detail on the religious environment Buddhism was born into, and what made it so distinct from Hinduism, Jainism and the like. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed it!
