I bought it a month after I purchased the PS4 console but the camera should be pretty much a standard accessory with the console given that it changes the way you use your console once you have it. I am not saying that without it you will suffer or will not be able to play games but you will not be able to play a few games that are included in the Game Room as well as motion gaming titles for example Just Dance. The PS4 camera is nice and setting it up is a breeze. Also, the attaches behind the console therefore keeping the front of the PS4 clutter free. I got a good price here so I purchased it on desertcart rather than in the stores but if you want you can first take a look at the hardware in a store that has the PS4 and the camera available so that you pretty much know what you are dishing out the money for. I play the champions game, will this work better than the eye?** A: This camera is only for PS4. It has motion control with Move and DualShock 4 and works REALLY well. Has head tracking, facial recognition, and voice commands as well. It works much much better than the PS Eye. How or how not?** A: No. It is more like an improved Eye Toy with higher resolution. The Kinect uses a 3D sensor while the Eye Toy still uses a 2D camera. That's why The PS4 camera is cheaper. The PS4 camera has 2 2D camera to approximate depth similar to our eyes. However, the images the PS4 camera captures are flat 2D image. It has to guess what is an object and its orientation. Due to the limitations of 2D images, PS4 camera works very poorly in a dark room. If you had a photo of a room that is all black, your eyes wouldn't know what is what. Kinect 3D camera works in darkness as it works kind of like sonar. It sends lots of signal out to the room and just knows the depth of the object in the room. So basically Kinect can reconstruct a 3D model of any object, PS4 Camera cannot. PS4 Camera has a higher resolution so the still 2D images are better than Kinect. **Q: does this have motion gaming like the kinect** A: SMH!
