I haven't had any problems with them peeling apart outdoors over a winter. Longer term, don't know, but no signs of problems. Whilst you can chain them together, they are essentially for smaller items such as tidying cabling. Lovely and reusable when you can spend a bit of time and dexterity putting them on/ taking them off. So fine for minor gardening jobs. For a heavy duty outdoor job such as securing temporary fencing, they are not a good replacement for a moulded traditional plastic tie wrap which will last for ever. (Although as such tradition tie wraps are not re-usable have a potentially bigger environmental impact.) These hoop and loop cable ties are also much more fiddy to use than a big traditional tie wrap when wearing gloves. So it depends on exactly what your outdoor use is and what you call durable. **Q: so these would be okay to hold light rope up in a gazbo for a night?** A: If it's to hold the rope against an upright pole or supporting bar belonging to the gazebo (for the purpose of tidyness or so someone doesn't trip over it) yep, they will do the job. If the rope is being used for any tension (e.g. Where you may normally use a tent peg or anchor of some sort) and you expect these to do the same job, I wouldn't recommend them. I personally use them to gather together loose cables and I would see no problem with them being used for loose ropes too. **Q: Would these hold a banner?** A: I would say so. I tested this for you with a 9kg bar bell. I overlapped the velcro by about 1 inch, and lifted the 9kg by holding the little tab.
