Chico's father is an expert at fishing. He has a proper fishing rod, and a very expensive fishing kit. But when Chico asks to go along on his father's fishing trip, the answer is 'no'. Chico will talk too much and scare the fish away, his father says. He'll fidget and fuss, and get in the way. Off his father goes with his fishing tackle, through the jungle to make a catch. Close to tears, Chico sets off alone along a different route. 'I'm not too young! I could sit still! I wouldn't scare the fish away!' he says. And by the time he reaches the river he is determined to prove just that . . . Meanwhile, Chico's father finds that preparation is not always the key to success, with hilarious results. There is much to delight in this tale of clever, resourceful Chico, and his not-so-wise - nor lucky - father in their fishing endeavours. Review: Great fun - Good well-written story. Illustrations a delight. Story has many discussion points and a twist at the end. Story to read to a 5 year old. She is starting to read it now she is six. Review: Beware!!! - I purchased this book after my daughter borrowed it from the local library and loved it, While searching for it on desertcart I found another similar book called 'Mookie Goes Fishing'. It turns out when they arrived they are in fact the SAME book with different titles. I have not encountered this before and think its pretty questionable given most people are likely to assume they are different books in the same series. Perhaps this should be mentioned in the product description??

Def a must for any Korky Paul fans - his usual high standard of illustration is fantastic in this big book and compliments this story wonderfully! Also the tale is a bit of a turn around from the usual parent-child story - funny and original! Amusing on both fronts for both child and adult reader, highly recommended!
