I received exactly as pictured and described. Absolutely great bargain. Two all metal boxes with 72 empty half pans. Two fold out palettes plus a removable center pan tray which exposes a third palette area. Lids on both boxes snapped securely shut, but were easy to reopen. They're listed as holding 12 half pans, but I was able to fit 14 (7 on each side) without bending the metal on the box, plus another five fit down the middle, but those 5 need double side tape, or a dab of hot glue to keep them from moving around. The two side rows of pans snap securely in place, but are easy to remove. Outside measures 3 X 5 inches, but the inside measurements down the center (with no extra 5 pans) is 4-1/4 inch long by 5/8 inch wide, if you want to use that area for a travel brush. You can get larger full pan boxes if you need more paint, but for a super compact setup, these little boxes can't be beat, plus you get all the extra pans. I love getting two boxes as I do both watercolor and gouache. I included a pic of my own travel kit with 5-1/2 X 8-1/2 sketchbook, travel brush pouch, water container, sponge, pencil, eraser, and paint box to give an idea of just how compact a travel setup can be. Super satisfied with this purchase!

Love this tiny palette for watercolor plein air! I filled it with 14 colors -- 6 along the top and bottom, and 2 in the middle. There's surprisingly enough room for mixing because it has that extra plate that folds out, plus you can lift out the plate that the pans are on and there's more mixing space underneath. You can tuck this little gem in a pocket or purse. And it's great to get all those extra pans to you can switch out colors as much as you want.

Wow I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of these metal palettes as well as the empty pans.The pans sit tightly inside the palette, and I didn’t have bend the metal bars much to secure them. I have metal palettes from Schmincke and their brand pans, and I found the original pans move around easily in the Schmincke palettes.The empty pans comes with these two small palettes are also great in quality. As another reviewer pointed out, they’ve got thick walls.I can fit 14 pans nicely in one metal tray using the two metal bars. I would say it’s possible to fit 5 more in the middle row if people want to have more pans.I’m very happy about this set. Definitely a great value.

Perfect little palette about the size of a 3x5 index card. This allows the pans to be moved around, and inserted anywhere, even without the side holders. The set of the two palettes and the 72 half pans represents a great bargain, considering the half pans alone would cost ~ $8. Its easy to fill the pans with tube paint, and customize your paint choices. I recommend this product.

These don't seem like the highest quality, best travel sized palettes ever, but it's a fantastic starter set. My order just arrived and they're not perfect, I had to gently push down the inner foldout mixing tray so it tilts towards the table & won't spill watered down mixed paint into the pans held inside, but the two palettes plus the tons of extra half pans, are a great little budget friendly set to get started.I'm planning to get some watercolor tube paints soon, to get back into painting as a causal hobby. And having never used liquid watercolor paint from tubes before, I've only used the dry pre-made kind, I needed a palette & pans to start out with. This will be a great starter set to try it out and maybe down the line I'll upgrade & get a larger palette should this work out and I enjoy myself.

Just what I needed. Although I have a large watercolor palette, there are times when I want to work with maybe only half a dozen particular colors. This little folding metal palette, which is about 5“ x 3“ when closed, fits the bill perfectly. I am currently studying Beatrix Potter watercolors and am using only five colors that were available during her day. Comes in a package of two palettes. Perfect for the job!

Surprisingly sturdy and well-built boxes with nice inner paint cover and mix areas just right for a small field pallet or setting up a pallet not used as often but you want ready to go. All the little plasitc insert boxes are also well made - thick-walled not some cheaper thin way and clip in and out fo the box easily but will not fall out.

Was drawn to the design during my search for a plein air pallette, but the extra pallette and half pans were a great addition. You can fit a maximum of 14 half pans without needing extra materials like tape which is plenty enough if you like working with a limited pallette. It's really tiny and easy to carry and you can tell that it was designed for the watercolorist in mind. Great value.
