Tried another, back to this brand
I've been buying cool beds for about 6 years now. I've purchased this brand and the K&H. I started out with the Canine Cooler for 3+ years. It kept splitting at the seams after about a year. The company suggested that I send it in for warranty, but it wasn't a good option at the time(s) (summer, 105 degrees). So then I switched to the K&H. It was cheaper and offered the same coolness. While the K&H cooled in the same way, it was not nearly as durable. In a year, I bought two K&H beds, whereas the Canine Cooler would last me at least a year. And, equally as important, the K&H bed looks like there was a mud contest on it, but the Canine Cooler never looked dingy.I normally replaced the Canine Cooler every year. I thought it was bad at first, but then I realized that if it only cost me $90 a year for my dog to be comfortable (Malamute, 100 degree temps), I would be more than happy to pay it.Yes, the K&H bed is cheaper, but the Canine Cooler has lasted longer. And it doesn't look as bad after a month's use. I did the math, and in a year I bought 2 K&H beds at $60 each, whereas the Canine Cooler cost me $90 and it lasted a year. And the Canine Cooler doesn't look like someone wiped their feet on it.As a side note, I haven't bought a Canine Cooler in over a year. When I received it a week ago, I could tell that something had changed in the design. It appears that the seams have either been reinforced or changed in some way. I'll be checking in after a while to make sure that my recommendation holds...BTW, honestly, I would give this product less than 4 stars because it only seems to last a year. But since I have tried the alternative and there isn't anything else around, it appears that this is the best option available. And really, $90 for a year's worth of comfort for my dog isn't unreasonable.

dog loves it-great deal too
we were worried about the leak issue we kept reading about. but one thing is certain, dogs love these beds. so, we gave it a try. the bed here at amazon- the exact same bed from the same manufacturer- was being sold in a dog magazine for double the price. so we thought for 50% off it was worth a shot.the instructions said for the large bed use 4.5 gallons of water unless youre gonna move it alot. we put in 4 gallons. my husband was very diligent in making sure all the air was out of the bed- doing the rolling method thing 3 times.we left it to sit as instructed for 4 hours.it is very cool and all the dogs love love love it.it resists puntures well, as the cat keeps clawing at it for some reason. theres no pressure inside so we know it wont pop from weight. it seems really sturdy and have no regrets- gonna buy another for upstairs.

Hot Dogs!!!
I have a Great Pyrenees who is an inside/outside dog. He stays inside all day in the summer and would only lay on tile. I read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. I followed all the directions and covered it with a twin fitted sheet. I just tuck the extra under so it is smooth. He didnt want to get on it at first so I layed on it and he layed beside me and that's all it took. He loves it!!!2 weeks later ordered one for German Shepard puppy on porch. After he got house broke and weather got cool I moved it inside so it wouldnt freeze. Now I have 2 "large" hairy dogs inside and they love their Canine Cooler beds. No problems so far but I would definitely buy another if anything happened to one of these.

Seems better than the Cool Bed III
Our 150lb Newfoundland loves his new Canine Cooler, and it's bigger than the Cool Bed III that we usually get him. We've gone through 2 of the Cool Bed III's for him, and both have developed leaks after about 8 months. I figure that's just par for the course on a device like that, and am ok with having to replace them after 8 months. But the leaking water gets under the cool bed and causes mold which I may not notice for a while. Not cool.Since the Canine Cooler comes in a larger size, we figured we'd give it a try. The main drawback with both the Canine Cooler and the Cool Bed III is that the foam inside the bed moves around and can get bunched up once you add the water. Trying to flatten it out with 40lbs of water inside is no easy task ~ a major drawback with both designs. But the outer plastic on the Canine Cooler seems to be thicker than the Cool Bed III ~ hard to say if the seams will hold up. We'll see in 8 months!

My dog loves it, but I don't.
My dog (a large Rottweiler) loves this bed. He is what I call a "hot" dog. He pants all the time, even in the southern California winter. In addition, he has arthritis. This is my third bed. The first one was GREAT. My second one-popped hole at the seam and it was not repairable. This third one, I have had for a month now and it already has a hole in it, but not at the seam. It is repairable. I really do not like purchasing these beds, but this is the only bed that my dog will lay on and he appears very comfortable. Therefore, it is what he wants; it is what he gets. Spoil your dog!

My dog loves it
I bought the large size for my 100 lb Chesapeake Bay retriever who is always too hot. She has used the bed for about 2 weeks now and loves it. She seems reluctant in the morning to get up off of it. The reviews which said the product leaks concerned me, so I put a sheet of plastic under it. But this is not really likely to protect the floor since the bed holds several gallons of water. I hope to be able to report back in a few months that it doesn't leak...stay tuned.

dogs love it
my 120 pound rottie loves this, I just wish it didnt bunch up in a ball every time he gets up quickly. The foam does not stay put and has to continually be fixed. I've had about 3-4 of these as the seam has split on several occasions and needed replaced. Because of these 2 issues, I would probably prefer not to buy it but my dog loves it too much! So, I deal with it. I just wish they came up with something to keep it from "balling" up and the foam moving around.
