Academic Encounters Level 1 Student's Book Listening and Speaking with DVD: The Natural World

I work overseas. I bought this book to use with my students and was very excited about that. I really like the Academic Encounters Reading and Writing series and keep it as a supplemental text. I wanted to try the Listening and Speaking series. I bought the book and took it with me overseas only to find that the DVD is missing all of the audio files for the textbook. The Audio folder is empty. Video is there, audio is not. Of course, I'm well beyond the return date so this whole book, without the audio files, is useless to me. Waste of my money and the space it took up in my luggage. Very disappointed.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<UPDATE Nov 2022>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I found the audio files as a free download from Cambridge University Press online, so I'm able to use the books with my classes. I really like the series and wish I could give it 5 stars; however, the DVD option is problematic. Not only are the audio files missing, but the video files don't work. I've tried everything: downloading new players (VLC, Nero, Power, etc.), converting the VOBs to MP4s, troubleshooting my DVD drive, different computers, etc. It just doesn't work. The DVD is faulty and/or the files are corrupted.Now that this series is available with integrated online learning, it's best to go for that option. The only benefit to the DVD version now is that it's less expensive. If all you need is the book and the audio for teaching/personal study and don't care about the extra learning, then buy this one. The DVD is trash, but you can download the audio for free.
