Reliable, easy, Powerful, Cheap
The U-43 is the best remote I've owned. I love it. So does my wife. It does everything I want (and I'm picky), is guest-friendly and geek-friendly, and it costs 8 bucks. You should buy it.Other reviews have summarized well what's great about this remote, so I'm just going to add some geek details. What I love:- Separate on and off buttons. Simple, but a huge ease-of-use win. Many devices now have discrete on/off codes, and this remote finally lets you use them. A big help to reliability when you've programmed a "system on" macro.- No LCD screen. Nice idea, but more often than not a crutch that replaces good design. Demands that you look down at the remote, takes space away from keys, and is typically butt-ugly.- Programmable macros, even on the device keys.- Decent IR emitter. So you hardly ever have to hit a key more than once, and macros execute reliably.- "Punch through" capability on most keys- Decent remote code database, and decent learning capability. All up, I'm extremely happy with u-43. If you're up for a very easy use universal remote control, you can make this one fine remote.

AWESOME!
This thing is great. I got it for my dad who is 85 and hates everything. ha ha. It took a few minutes to set up, and now it controls our new Sony OLED TV perfectly. It is very big, and the buttons are large with a lot of space in between them. I had bought this and another "senior" remote, and this one was way bigger and easier to hold and use.Only two minor complaints: I wish it didn't have the small text for the brand (such as SN for Sony, PA for Panasonic, etc, mixed in with the number buttons. They are just confusing and I had to explain to my dad to ignore them as he is studying the remote with a magnifier glass (his eyesight is very bad due to diabetes). I also wish the +100 number was a period instead. It's to put the decimal, for instance if you want to go to channel 10.2, you would press 1, 0, +100, 2. The "+100" I've never seen it used this way, at least in the United States. Also, the batter door is proper. I've bought a few recent "no-name" cheap products, and the battery door was impossible to open, including another "senior" remote. This one is proper.

Warning! Warning! Buy this only if you're willing to gamble on it actually working, and have time to waste!!
I wish there was a zero star rating for this product. What a disappointment. I wish that I had paid more attention to the details of individual reviews instead of the overall rating (which isn't terrible) prior to purchasing. It seems that if you get one that actually works,it's an okay remote, but I wasn't that lucky. Regardless of how many times I changed the batteries, the led was stuck in the "lit" mode. I tried every option given for programming and was unsuccessful. We have a Vizio TV and none of the listed codes worked. Sent back for refund; will buy another brand. Too bad it's junk because the giant buttons would have been great for my elderly Mom.

Good remote, set up instructions poor.
This remote worked perfectly for our Polaroid TV with the first code listed. Power, Volume and Channel selection worked for the main antenna channels. Using the Learning mode for programming section took time. After using the original remote, I was able to program the +100 button for the period key. I also was able to program the Previous Channel key to be the Enter key to confirm the Input source. Instructions do need some examples to understand the purpose for doing programming of special keys using the original remote.

SLOW VOLUME
Setting it up was difficult. I like the big buttons but hate how you have to press long and hard for the volume to change.

Buttons I can SEE
I like that this remote was very easy to program. I like that the buttons are big. Its especially easy to SEE the volume up/down, channel up/down and big red power button. Very happy with this universal remote and would highly recommend it. It does not have backlight but it's still a big improvement from the smaller remote with 1000 tiny buttons. It's simple and easy to use.

The large buttons help my mom a lot .
I bought this for my mom who was starting to lose her eye sight and had arthritis. The large buttons help a lot and were easy for her to see and use. She was able to change the channel, increase the volume and power the TV off and on, which was enough for her.

Button response is slow
The volume buttons take several presses to actually change the volume, making the remote useless. We all know that's probably the most used button on a remote due to fluctuations in volume during whatever you are watching. Oh - they are just talking. I can barely hear them *turns the volume up*.BUT WAIT! A BOMB GOES OFF AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! VOLUME IS SUDDENLY 3X AND YOUR EARS ARE BLEEDING. TURN IT DOWN! TURN IT DOWN! OMG! GO DOWN! *turns the tv off instead as that's the only other solution since the remote isn't in a hurry to actually do its job.*
