This new version states on the container "for auto mix machines fill the solution tank" No mention of diluting! I emailed Hoover. Rochelle at customer service answered "All our solutions are concentrated solutions. They should be diluted. Usually depending on the model of the machine use 2-3 oz in the solution tank and then fill the rest with water." So take your pick... the lable or Hoover customer service. **Q: Can you use this on upholstery as well?** A: According to the label is says you should check the cleaning code on the furniture. Says not to use on silk, leather, velvet, vinyl or linen. Looks for code WS or W those are ok. Do not use on code X or S **Q: Why is the price per ounce higher for the 64oz than for the 32oz bottle? I could not believe the amount of dirt and grime that this was able to get out of my 'clean' looking carpets. The water was so filthy and muddy looking. It was very satisfying to know that yes, the carpets are actually getting clean. The proof is in the dirty water. I used this soap with a rental carpet cleaner that was not hoover brand and I had no problem with it. The solution is clear and has a slight chemically odor to it straight out the bottle. But that does not linger for too long. As soon as the solution hits the carpet, the odor changes into a clean smell that is subtle and just enough. I was glad that my house didn't smell like a chemical plant neither did it smell like a laundromat. It was just a clean, subtle scent. BEWARE: My daughter was very allergic to this solution! She was walking on the carpet barefoot while I was cleaning. Later that night, she broke out in hives and red patches all over her face and body. She was scratching everywhere and I had to give her several doses of anti histamines throughout the night/day to decrease her discomfort. I do not know what she was allergic to but cleaning the carpets was the only thing we did differently that day. So I have to believe that this was the culprit.
