Dimplex Designer 16l Dehumidifier

Highly impressed with the performance in extracting moisture and drying clothes, even in less than ideal temperatures. Okay the background fan is noticeable if your in the same room, but not enough to merit losing a star.

It’s been so effective and I’m thankful that I invested in it. It is a little noisy but that is to be expected and it’s constant rather than rattling.

This Dimplex Forte FTE16 product is the third dehumidifier we have owned -- it is a compressor type, 16L extractor with a 2.3L water tank. Our other units owned are ■ Meaco DD8L (dessicant type, 8L extraction, 2L tank with ioniser) ■ EcoAir DC18 (compressor type, 18L extraction, 3.5L tank) Here are a few observations on this Dimplex and points of comparison: 1) First thing is that this FTE16 unit is elegant and minimalist in its design but doesn't have the bells and whistles of sophisticated LED displays, turn-off timers, etc. 2) Instead you have an old school discreet humidistat dial that adjusts the target humidity level (level 2 extraction targets 80% humidity, up to level 8 giving you 20% humidity should you need it). 3) Compared to those Meaco and EcoAir models, the Dimplex Forte FTE16 feels more solid and better built. The other two wasn't flimsy by any means but the Dimplex design seems more well thought out. 4) Surprisingly, this Dimplex FTE16 is the quieter one amongst this cohort. Despite the other reviews saying this model being "noisy", we can categorically confirm that it is quieter than Meaco DD8L, and even the Ecoair DC18 @43dB(A) even though on paper the Dimplex is @45dB(A). Not sure why, perhaps it's the nature of the blowing sound is different. The Meaco and EcoAir units sound like it's blowing through a tunnel, where as the Dimplex sounds more diffused and "spread out" -- feels less noisy. 5) On the flip side, the water container in this Dimplex model doesn't give you a visual cue around how much water is accumulating (i.e. there isn't a see through transparent panel to gauge water levels). This is a downside but has does have an automatic cut off when full. Overall, this dehumidifier is a workhorse and very solid, despite it's dainty appearance. One could argue that it lacks the electronic bells and whistles (although in our experience, the benefit of this could be that limited electronic circuitry could reduce points of failure). If you are looking for a unit that does its job well and just gets on with it, this Dimplex model would fit the bill. It comes with a 3year warranty (i.e. an additional 2years on top of the standard 1year) if you register with Dimplex.

What a great esay to use and high quality dehumidifier, I'm glad i ordered this, the mechanical control makes it ideal for controlling it with smart automation apps like Xiaomi Mijia power smart switch, this means that it will start working perfectly as your smart switch turns ON, as long as there is three mins delay between Off and On.

When it works it’s great , when it leaks it’s a nightmare.
