Excellent construction. Buy fine-grade chalk.
This is my first chalk bag after the plain Black Diamond one that came with my harness. I like that the chalk ball is refillable and attached to the side of the bag. Construction seems to be superb. I bought the Friction Labs Gorilla Grip chalk (my first chalk purchase as well) to go in it. It works, and I'm happy with it, but my understanding now is that I should have purchased a finer grade of chalk (Unicorn Dust from those guys). I wish my hands came out a bit chalkier, but its actually been a big improvement over the default chalk that came with the harness.I put 4 stars because the only feature I wish this thing had is a little zippered pocket to stash my cell phone. I don't like it in my pockets, but I like to be able to check on things between climbs.

The Envy of the Crag
Great product. Super well made, durable materials. Great size. Fantastic feature with the built-in chalk sock. I have saved so much chalk since I started using this bag. Everybody always asks where I got it.If I make a great effort to be picky, this could use a quicker way to secure the sock in the "loose chalk mode". The hook-and-loop method works just fine and is very secure, but isn't very quick. Maybe simple buttons or snaps, and also a larger sock, but that's really personal preference because it still gives full coverage.

So far a very nice bag!
Only gotten to use it a handful of times so far but it is just what I wanted from a chalk bag. Sometimes you want an even light coating from the chalk ball and others you want a heavy coating. I believe another reviewer had said this so I followed suit, I keep some loose chalk at the bottom and always have the chalk ball zipped so I have both ways ready at any time. So far a very nice bag!

The Ultimate Climbing Pouch
I checked my email this afternoon and received an email from HANCHOR requesting me to review their product. I had bought the the Kangaroo chalk bag directly from their website and place of manufacture in Taiwan, so I can verify that the other reviews for this product are also legitimate. So although you may not see "buyer verified" underneath my review, I have the product with me. (I chose purple). One thing to note about Taiwan is that it is not mainland China, obviously. So although both peoples are Chinese in origin, the quality of manufacture between the two are grossly contrasting. Taiwan has been known for its superb attention to quality across all kinds of products. ASUS (always thought it was an American company), Acer, Lian-Li and HTC to name a few, HANCHOR being no exception... I believe this may have also to do with the fact that some part of the Taiwanese people seeks to redeem themselves in light of mainland China's absurd internal disintegration and degeneracy...I did hours of research for the ideal chalk bag, but none of them seemed to match up to my expectations. There seemed to be always that one (or series of) convincing review(s) that steered me away from the chalk bags: the seams falling apart, chalk leaking out of the bag, the drawstring ripping out, never receiving the product, etc. The typical issues with standard chalk bags.... Eventually I opted elsewhere for my search. What better place to look than Kickstarter dot com?HANCHOR's line of unique climbing pouches came up and I was immediately sold on their infomercial. ( Not to mention being a Taiwanese namebrand. )I finally decided on the Kangaroo as it was their main product. The concept is simple: chalk can be accessed from the 360-degree interior zipper-pocket. When I boulder I don't have to worry about loose chalk catching onto my shirt or shorts. When done the bag can be closed from the drawstring on the side, which closes the top with a 360-degree curtain, like a standard chalk bag.The only downside I feel for this bag is the lack of an exterior zipper pouch which would allow me to place my smartphone or wallet. It is difficult to assume your personal belongings are safe when you cannot watch over them when climbing. I climb at an indoor climbing club and there are no "official" lockers for anyone, only cubbies.Other than that I can say there are no any other faults or lack in features that I know of, but I will update this review if I ever do come across one. My feeling is not likely, but we will see...Happy climbing!ABOUT THE AUTHOR: I am Cantonese and hail from Hong Kong, China.

2 in 1 is right.
One of my favorite chalk bags easy. I myself used to randomly switch between loose chalk and a chalk ball, I preferred using a chalk ball on the wall to avoid mess and to avoid raining chalk on my belayer below and preferred loose when on the ground as it got better coverage. It would be hard to switch between the two though because the chalk ball would usually take up a huge amount of space in that bag, particularly when newer. What's nice about this chalk bag is that the cloth option is sewn in and gives your hand plenty of space when reaching for it. It is also semi elastic, giving you tons of space to put a good amount of chalk in. What I like to do is keep the elastic cloth zipped up, but still have some loose chalk sitting at the bottom of the bag, gives me the best of both worlds.

A++ : Great to see the next evolution!
Hands down the best chalk bag I've ever come across and used! Extremely sturdy construction with clearly a lot of thought and consideration put into the design. The built in chalk sock is a very cool feature and wonderfully convenient. You can slip the inside pocket closed to make a chalk sock and then load chalk into both the sock and in the the greater pocket so you have access to whichever you're feeling. Constructed with top-notch materials, this bag is like a tank and built to last. I don't see myself ever moving to buy another chalk bag, unless something irreparably damages my current Kangaroo. But even then, I'd just purchase a replacement Kangaroo. Plus, I love the purple!
