everything you need for street clothing emergency repairs
Rating the item only, not the shipper: This little sewing kit amazed me--far better quality than I expected. Not obvious to me from the photo is that everything snaps into the kit and is held nicely. You can hold the kit and shake it while upside down and nothing falls out! The kit has everything essential to make emergency repairs when traveling, held in a very small package.NOTE: this is for ordinary street clothing, NOT for backpacking/survivalKit contents:top compartment: 3 straight pins with plastic heads, tweezers (just a piece of bent steel, but works well enough to pluck a hair out of my arm), tiny scissors (somewhat flimsy, but cuts thread no problem), needle threaderbottom compartment: 2 snaps, two white shirt buttons, safety pin, 3 needles, and thread holder with 6 colors: brown, khaki, blue, red, black, white, and black. The kit snaps shut with a strong catch that actually works very well; likewise the kit is actually hinged, not just another flexible piece of plastic that soon breaks from being used. For under $10 this is a great value and will be in my carry-on from now on. (I'm hoping that the tiny scissors will pass with airport security.) Individual items are somewhat flimsy but they all work well, which is really all I can ask--chrome plating is an unnecessary option. If I lost this kit, I would buy another right away.

Adequate for emergencies, but not great quality and a little expensive
I ordered this kit to make emergency repairs while traveling such as reattaching buttons and straps. It works OK for that, but was somewhat smaller than I expected. The scissors are tiny and not very effective; you can coerce them into cutting the thread supplied in the kit, but they certainly will not cut fabric or much else. Everything in the kit is basically of very cheap quality and the case does not close easily after opening it (everything pops loose and moves around). However, it packs compactly if you tape it shut, and has all the basics such as needles, thread, pins, and a couple of extra buttons. I'd be very happy with it if it were about a third or half the price. As is, it's adequate for the purpose, but if you need to do more than a rare emergency fix, you'll want something more substantial.

Perfect for its purpose
I really needed a small sewing kit for traveling. Used to be all hotels provided one, but not anymore! This has exactly what I need to sew on buttons and fix other "emergencies". The scissors are ok, not great, but they work. But what do you expect for a total of $5? I have used it several times and it is easy to use. Come with the necessary needle threader. (Haven't been able to do that by myself in many years!). Several needles and plenty of thread. Nice sturdy case too. I store it with my travel toiletries so I always know where it is. (It's pretty small, but that's what I wanted)

Wishful thinking does not result in a good product
I desperately wanted this to be a good product. A mini sewing kit for about $5? It was even minier than I thought! How wonderful! Unfortunately, they packed a lot of junk in this tiny case. Needle threader broke after 2nd use. One of the eyes of the needles also broke in half mid-button-sew (how?), which made it difficult (read: impossible) to finish what I was doing. Scissors appear to be constructed from recycled foil from childrens' pinwheel toys. Stay away. I'm going to give one of the other, slightly more expensive, kits a try. I can't imagine how they could be worse.

is mediocere
This sewing kit is a purely emergency kit (maybe if that). The scissors are pretty much trash, but the other stuff works ok... I guess.

Very good for intended purpose
It is a very nice and inexpensive kit for travel and light home use. My wife loves it. Some people complain, but then, they probably complain about everything, nit picking about nothing. Just remember this is not a hundred dollar item but an inexpensive simple unit for a simple purpose. For that, this is a highly recommended.

I'm giving this three stars because of its price. if it was any more money, I'd rate it lower. the scissors don't cut and it gets stuck mid-cut. the needle eyes aren't even and are low quality needles. Thankfully I only needed for a quick patch up and bought it for the thread so in that sense it worked out!

It will work!
I got this because I needed a really small sewing kit to carry with us when we go camping. This is going to work just fine. It's nothing fancy but will take up very little space and it has most everything we will need. The scissors are a little small but they'll cut thread.
