The new camera is still working fine as of 01/29/17 and the old one from Wattwire ...
I will never purchase anything from this seller again. The seller misrepresented the camera by listing UTC (up the cable control from the DVR) as one of the item descriptions, then later after I complained, removed it from the description. The item descriptions that I am referring to were stated as follows; "OSD Menu, via Up the cable (UTC) control at the DVR for Advanced Settings" and Works with and DVR using the HD-TVI standard, such as the Turbo line from Hikvision". I have a HD TVI DVR. I tried changing protocols, calling the seller, and also the manufacturer of my DVR, and could not get this camera to work via UTC. After making numerous calls to the seller and getting responses such as "It must be your DVR", I begin to research this camera and found out that their were two versions of this camera, one that didn't work via UTC (the older model, the one from this seller), and a newer model that did. After completing this research which took about six months or more due to my busy schedule, I called the seller again, to discuss my findings, and to ask for a replacement. His response was that there would be a 50% restocking fee, because It had been six months. I explained that had he not misrepresented the camera, and that had he not told me that the problem was with my DVR, that I would not have had to take six months to research this issue. Also, he told me that he would research this issue and get back to me, which he didn't. as a result, I filed a complaint with Amazon, under their A to Z guarantee, citing that the product did not perform as described. I was first refused a refund, but after speaking to three or more supervisors, I was finally given a refund, and was told I could keep the camera. I later ordered a similar camera from a seller outside of Amazon, and this seller ( was the one that informed me about the older version of this camera not having UTC) guaranteed me that if his camera did not work UTC, that he would refund my money and shipping. After receiving this camera, I connected it to my DVR and I was immediately able to access the camera menu from my DVR via UTC. Also I paid $100 more for this camera, than I paid for the one form WattWire, the Amazon seller, but it was worth it. This all occurred around August of 2015. The new camera is still working fine as of 01/29/17 and the old one from Wattwire had too many problems with picture distortion, so I stopped using it. In addition to his poor customer service or lack their of, he was also argumentative. The reason that it took me about six months to figure out what was wrong with the camera from WattWire, was because he kept insisting that the problem was with my DVR. It wasn't until I purchased three different cameras from this same seller (2.8 to 12 mm) that had the same description of being able to be access form the DVR using UTC (in which all of them did), that I realized that the problem that I was having with the 5-50mm vari-focal camera was with the camera itself. The reason that It took me a while to write this review is that I am a business man, and have a lot of other important things to take care of, but I was determined to write this review for the sake of others. Although I may have been able to save some other Amazon customers from having a similar experience, by writing this review sooner, I figure better late than never!

Powerful camera!
Love this camera! It the optical zoom level is far more powerful than my other cameras and the picture is clear. It does require a little bit of tinkering at the beginning as the camera needs to be re-focused after manually setting the zoom level. It's best to have a hand held monitor or a connected tablet when doing this (we had our iPad displaying the picture). Just in time--my 5 year son had a tantrum fighting with his older brother and smashed the tablet 3 days later. God help me!!!

This a great camera and what a price
This a great camera and what a price !!! I use this to look up my 600' long driveway. I can read license plates clearly at least half way up my drive or 300'. I have it zoomed about half of it's capability. Works great on my HD-TVI system.
