The ear tip saga
It took me about a month and a half of owning the Sony WF-1000XM4s before I realized that the discomfort I was experiencing was due to the terrible ear tips, rather than improper wearing. I set out to find better, and these are my findings. Tested against the medium size stock eartips.Silicon tips:ALXCD silicon ($6.99) - amazon.com/gp/product/B08G4N1QP3Things I liked:- 3 pair, one of each size- Also included are a hard case and small microfiber cloth- These tips match the look of my black headphones nicely, and the interiors are colored for easy differentiation between sizesThings I didn't like:- These fit rather loosely, both in the ear and on the earbud. Going up a size improves fit and sound isolation, but I found the larges uncomfortably big for my ears.- Sound isolation is lacking, but this is expected with silicon tips.- I found that these tips gather earwax rather quickly. As mine is itchy, this translated to experiencing itching after an hour or two of use on each wear.SpinFit CP360 ($13.49) - amazon.com/gp/product/B07PJNHM3ZThings I liked:- Fit is excellent, in the ear and on the earbud. I wouldn't expect these to come out of the ear or off the earbud on their own. I found the medium size of these to be perfect.- Sound quality is phenomenal, incredibly crisp- While the sound isolation isn't perfect, it is probably the best I've ever had with a silicon eartip. Major props!- Medical grade silicon, which eliminated ear itching for meThings I didn't like:- Coming with only two pairs, and of different sizes, you'll want to be careful not to lose track of these- Packaging is disposable, leaving no good long term storage solution for extra pairs- I found the clear tips unattractive on my black earbudsFoam tips:FEYCH foam ($6.99) - amazon.com/gp/product/B07SN4HP5ZThings I liked:- These eartips come with 6 pairs- Also included is a hard case- These have good sound isolation, and better sound quality than the eartips included with the headphones- They fit well; the medium size tips offer a secure fit without any pressure, one of my biggest gripes with the Sony eartips. I have not experienced any itching, as sometimes happens with cheap foam tips.Things I didn't like:- These eartips extend well past the interior tube, causing me to question their durability. If you are confident if your size it might be best to buy the pack of just that size to allow plenty of extras.Comply foam ($25.99)- I have not had the opportunity to try these, as they cost almost as much as the other three pairs combined and I am on a college budget. I include them only for the sake of completeness, as many people swear by them. Conclusion:All of the tips listed here are going to provide a better experience than the extremely uncomfortable stock ones. If you have the money, you're going to have a much better experience and likely longer lifespan with the more expensive options. If you're less concerned about the money or want extras, the cheaper tips will serve you just fine. For sound isolation, pick up some foam tips. For frequent on and off, silicon will be much more convenient. For a workout environment I suggest foam tips, as they offer the better isolation in public settings and a tighter fit to prevent an ear falling out. I personally use foam tips as my daily drivers, as the added isolation is key when walking to class or listening in a crowded dining space.

BEST ALTERNATIVE TO MEMORY FOAM FOR XM4’s
I’m one of the many people that have issues using the memory foam ear tips, they consistently work their way out of my ear canal and prevent the earbuds staying secure. I decided to try a standard pair of inexpensive silicone tips on my Sony WF-1000XM4’s and found them much more comfortable, the sound and bass was much better, they stayed in my ear for the most part with an accessional adjustment, and I loved them but still had issues with them staying secure during any physical activity. Then I started to read about the spinfit 360 for the WF-1000XM4’s and how they not only stayed secure, but improved sound quality. I figured for less than $15, if I can make my premium earbuds sound even better, why not give it a shot? I purchased the Large/XL Size because that’s what seems to give me a tight seal for all other eartips. The Large still didn’t feel tight enough for the ANC, and Large is what I always use (just a tip this model might run a little small and/or doesn’t go as deep into your ear canal), so I tried the XL and got an airtight fit, and WOW! This is one of those products that isn’t embellishing the improvement that their product offers. The sounds quality, bass, clarity, and fit all improved drastically using the spinfit 360 with my Sony WF-1000XM4’s. I would definitely recommend if you have issues with the memory foam tips, the earbuds staying in your ear, or any earbud issue in general or if you just want to make them sound bette than they already do (only if you’re having issues with your current eartips) It’s worth the inexpensive fix to get the sound out of those earbuds you’ve been wanting and cost so much money, and to be disappointed with the sound quality is a resounding review that I read. MOST premium, name brand expensive earbuds are going to give you good sound. It comes to personal preference, fit, iOS vs Android, and what you can afford. It’s not the earbuds that the are disappointing, they may not be your favorite, but most likely it’s the way they are fitting in your ear. Now once you get a tight seal, you may prefer one sounding brand over the other, but at least you’re comparing apples to apples at this point because you’re getting the same seal with each earbud you try out. This fixes that issue of earbuds that don’t fit or fall out! I went with the size that always works for me and it worked perfect. If you wear medium usually, get the M/L pack and see which fits more securely and you are ready to rock!
