Targeted at much younger audience
I'm going back and reading/collecting classic x-men stories, and thought I heard somewhere that this run qualified (first main apocalypse story, early cross-over event, creation of archangel...sounds solid). Now I wish I'd have skipped it.L.Simonson's writing/plotting is extremely childish here. And I don't mean childish as in edgy middle-school style, but literally it seems targeted at the average ~1st/2nd-grade elementary schooler. Not only is that a complete expectations mismatch when coming from Claremont x-books, but even the few included David/McFarlane Hulk and Nocenti/Romita Daredevil tie-in issues are drastically better in writing/tone/vocabulary/etc. Instead these x-factor books are right in line with the included 'Power Pack' pre-teen comic (also written by Simonson). There also seems to have been a conscious effort to avoid thought-bubbles and narration rectangles, which makes the dialogue so much worse by being burdened with exposition. And the dialogue often seems out-of-character, after having read all the early Claremont stuff. For example, since when does Scott & everyone else call Jean 'Jeanie'? Maybe in the 60's x-men but I don't even think so.Story-wise, another reviewer mentioned that you should pick this up if you're a fan of Warren Worthington. I'd say instead (only slightly tongue-in-cheek), only pick this up if you're a fan of Caliban -- he's the only one to go through some basic character development arc. The archangel heel-face-turn happens over the course of a single page, which wikipedia's single sentence adequately describes. The W.Simonson art is competent here, but again, seems to be aimed at being childish in simplicity.Maybe this score is a bit unfair if expectations are managed (was x-factor supposed to be the x-book for very young children and I didn't get that memo?). But I'd suggest people skip this unless you have a very specific nostalgia hunt.

An excellent compilation of X-Factor issues from the Fall of the Mutants story line. It's nice for me to go back and relive these stories that I loved as a kid without re reading and possibly damaging my original collection.

A great x-men story
An excellent X-Men story. A deep look into the character of Magneto. One of the pivotal stories of the 90s

X-Men: Fall of the Mutants vol 2
You can never go wrong with The Fall of the Mutants. X-Factor take down Apocalypse and save New York? The Hulk vs X-Factor? The Fantastic Four? Daredevil? Yeah... it's all good.
