In the case of this product the lower price gave me better than average performance. The first problem was that the spark igniter needed to be adjusted in order to get a strong enough spark to ignite the gas. It wasn't a big issue for me, but others may not want to deal with physically adjusting the insulators and electrode. The second issue is that the fit isn't as tight as OEM when you twist it into place. My guess is that this part replaces many OEM variants and the smaller size is a trade off in order to accomplish this with one part number.
