It's amazing how well it is coming back after sooooo many ...
I an 69 year young. I hadn't played brass for at least 57 years or so. It's amazing how well it is coming back after sooooo many years. The trumpet is beautiful and well finished. My practice improved with a 7c mouthpiece. The third valve was sticking a bit when it was brand new. It seems to be fine now. Valves need oiling every 3-4 days. I wish that the valve springs were a bit... not much... heavier. I like quality and this horn seems to fit the bill for the for its value and price. I believe it is a great horn. I have hot had the opportunity to blow a $1000.00+ horn but I'm not sure "I "would feel much difference. I recommend this trumpet for any person like me and to all young students. I will see what I think as time goes buy. For me, it's a great horn. Its a great price for this product.C. Farmer

I purchased this trumpet for my oldest grandson who is 12 year old. He has been playing with an old hand me down for the past 2 years and I wanted to purchase something new for him. I know that there are several other brands to choose from however, until he got a little older I didn't want to spend many hundreds of $$$ until I knew he was going to stick with it and also this age of kids tend not to value their things. Any way, this instrument was a huge hit and while I am not an expert on musical equipment I was in band and I love good music and understand quality. This is a beautiful horn and I was most impressed with the tone, finish and smoothness of the valve action. I give this 110%+ for what we have in this horn. Thanks

good
my child's band teacher approved it, so it's good enough for me. the case is sturdy, but a little too heavy and I need to look for a lighter one.

Happy Retread
I played trumpet pretty well ovver 20 years ago. I played the classic trumpet concerti without embarassment. When forced to quit, i disposed of a lovely Besson Meha, two Bach Strads, a Yamaha flugel and a Selmer pic so my standards are pretty high. Decided to try again now in my 80s. Took a chance on this horn and I am very happy with the result. The construction is solid and first rate and the tone is rch and dark -at least it is with a blessing 3c mouthpiece. I did not find the include mp to my liking. This should prove to be a good horn for anyone from beginner to intermediate.

Extremely reliable trumpet
I had bought another trumpet from a local seller. It lasted a few months. Sometimes the keys for the valve would come off, sometimes they would refuse to rise, the mouth-piece receiver would fall of. None of that with the LJ Hutchen trumpet. Very reliable. Excellent quality. Rugged box. Yes the box is a little bulky but it keeps the trumpet safe. I bought this trumpet a year back for my son. After a year of playing it looks brand new and plays excellent consistent tones. This is probably the only trumpet one needs to buy to get through middle school and possibly high school band classes.

Fantastic trumpet at a great price
We bought this trumpet as a Christmas present for our 12 year old (7th grade) son. He's been playing trumpet for three years and was using a cheap, student model trumpet. I also play the trumpet off and on, but during my school-age days I played for 6 years, including 2 years in HS marching band. This LJ Hutchen trumpet is of far better quality than his previous trumpet and he is very happy with it. The trumpet arrived in perfect condition with easily adjusted slides and smooth, quick valves. The sound is very nice and the build quality appears to be superb.

Best bang for the buck for a student
I was in need of a student horn for an 8th grader. I can only compare this horn to a Japanese made Yamaha. It plays very well not as good as the Yamaha but almost. Now the Yamaha horns are made in China. I would say this is the ideal 1st horn. It works as it should and has good build quality. If you need a horn for a student I would recommend this horn. Added suggestions is get a good light weight case (that will set you back $100) and some grease. Your child will do well with this.

Great purchase for school!
Bought this for my 11 yr old as he is going in to 7th grade and needed to purchase or rent a trumpet to continue playing in school. He loves it and said it is much easier to play than the one he had from school. He used it on the 4th to play America The Beautiful and The Star Spangled Banner before my fierworks display. He hit all the high notes that he struggled with on the school trumpet. Price was great as is the quality. Case was a plus!
